Actually I read somewhere they plan on changing abilities/spells around for classes. So here's hoping THM gets the Ancient Magics/Elemental nukes! +1 THM for being blm.
This thread has been siezed and changed into CON vs THM vs BLM vs WHM repeat thread!
It wouldn't work with the current system. Using that logic, MMOs with class trees are unnecessary when they should only have 1 class and just 720 skills.
They added it ontop so it can be optional. Giving current classes a bunch of skills won't do anything, a conjurer is still a conjurer -- jobs are specifically designed for x style.
Don't... taze me... bro?
Theyre not exactly from XI as much as they are final fantasy mainstays, just as chocobos and summons. All of the new jobs are present as early as FFIV.
it wouldn't be a final fantasy without those jobs, that was my concern, i'm sorry if i'm going to play final fantasy it better be a final fantasy
Jobs are a recurring aspect, but not a staple of the series. Chocobos, the crystal theme music, characters named Cid, and airships are all staples of the series. To my knowledge, the only games where jobs have made an appearance are FF3, FF5, and FF11.
And you'd be absolutely wrong.
Jobs are a staple of the series. In some of the games of the series you couldn't *change* job on your character, but in 90% of Final Fantasy games all characters have one of the classic jobs.
How many FFs have you played? The jobs were recurring in almost every single FF game in some way. Jobs been around since FFI, how is that not a staple? Do you just honestly hate job systems?
Even when a FF game didn't have a job system, they had references to them, e.g someone would clearly be a White Mage or Red Mage given armor design.
