huh? if its true that retainers auto withdraw from your account every month... then why isnt it working for me?

Not sure.. do you use Crysta or time cards to pay? Not sure if it works with those options; I use a credit card each month. I'd say "talk to SE customer support" but I hear it's terrible?

Maybe someone who does use time cards or crysta can help

Yes if you use crysta or a game time card they do not include extra retainers. If you sub via automatic withdrawal then you don't have to select them each month.

I paid for both my sub and 1 extra retainer with crysta for a while, and it was automatic renewal for both the subscription and the retainer. The only time I had to reactivate that extra retainer was when my crysta ran out and my sub didn't renew automatically. It might be the same case with game time cards. Is your payment method the same for both the sub and retainer fees?

More characters per world would probably be fun for some people but I think allowing alts to befriend each other would help more people. They could send mail to each other and share a house.

On this topic I had another idea:
What about a "SE online account" bundled subscription that gives you standard access to FFXIV + FFXI, at a marginal discount.

There's significant crossover between XI and XIV players, and with a single subscription it would help people keep their accounts and alleviate the faffing around involved with PlayOnline. I think the Everquest people do something similar; one sub lets you play the ~5 or so MMOs under their umbrella.

i'd wish to ask for membership renewals that go up to at least 1 year terms the highest we have is what? 6 months? maybe with a 1 year payment we could get special deals for doing so or something like that

I pay for a extra retainer and it always included in my bill amount when it renews and don't have to do anything extra but the again I use a CC.

He must be using time cards or something.... I bought an Amazon Timecard for the promotion and when the time I got from them kicked in... my retainers didn't auto renew, it frightened me XD

Im guessing depending on your payment choices it doesn't automatically cycle with your sub.
