Yea tbh it does seem slightly pointless to force this on us especially when we have the option of customsation via materia.
I also think they need to remove HQ now aswell as it serves little purpose except the odd bit of extra def, again which can be customised with materia, it would remove a crap ton of HQ materials from the game freeing up much needed inventory space aswell.
This is a very bad concept. People want to wear their favorite color not whatever color SE decides has the best stats. On top of that, this means people wont be able to make aesthetically pleasing gear sets. People are going to be all one color, or a bunch of random colors..
I knew these crafting changes were only going to make things worse..
We are not spoiled by being able to pick our color. If they put a Dying mechanic in a game it means we get to pick our color. It is unreasonable to impose a color on a person just to pretend like you have design a wider variety of gear.
No, not never do this again. Go back and fix it. This is Ridiculous.I've blown a fair amount of gil myself on gear that I can't use all because the color dictated what class could wear it. Seriously SE, this does NOT make the game better, it only makes buying new gear more confusing and frustrating. Color should NOT make a raptor jerkin DoL-only when the uncolored version allows for certain DoW to wear it. Never do this again.
Whos to say they wanted us to choose the colour of our gear anyway, i think its more a move to identify a job by what its wearing.
I wouldn't be totally surprised if they lock certain colours to certain jobs later on and im ok with that, when I play offline FF games I don't get much choice in what I wear so I duno why the online version would be any different.
You couldn't colour gear in FF11 and that worked out just fine.
I think it could look quite cool later on if a warrior wears red plate and a paladin wears white or silver armour.

That is what Class specific gear is for. To define the aesthetic of a Job you make a set that can only be obtained by that job. That's why XI has Artifact Armour. That's why every other MMO has class quest armour. Coloring is a way for players to express themselves within the restrictions of the already heavy guidelines places on gear. A Mage is defined by wearing a Robe. In FF a black mage is defined by a Point hat and a White Mage is defined by a Flared clothing. Color has not determined the role of a Class in any game since video games stopped being made of Sprites.
This was simply a half-assed way to make it look like there was more gear variety, but all it does is gimp and put off players.
Something I thought was interesting, while the Red robe gives +MND and the Green robe gives +Magic Potency, the Red hat gives +INT and the green hat gives +MND.

OK you are generalising here, WoW for example doesn't have colour dyed gear either, but it does have hundred or thousands of gear types, styles and choices.
At this stage its too early to know what SE have planned, just because you want something don't get up on your high horse and start proclaiming that you deserve it because you lead yourself to think that.
This forum community has some of those worst self entitled people around, I bet Yoshi-p sighs and rolls his eyes everytime he reads these forums.

I'm not on a high Horse. This is a feature they Gave us and are now taking away for literally no reason. To have the same piece of armour give two different stats is just a lazy way to pretend there is more variety in the armour. There is no excuse for removing such a beloved mechanic from the game especially after telling us they were going to make it easier to have customized colors for our armour.OK you are generalising here, WoW for example doesn't have colour dyed gear either, but it does have hundred or thousands of gear types, styles and choices.
