Before someone comes in and says "But if you can transfer ownership, then house resellers will win!"

There is a stupidly simple solution to that problem.

When relinquishing a plot willingly, refund players the same way an expiry demolition does. Then people who no longer want their houses won't try and "sell" them, and they will be more inclined to relinquish.

    Nice and simple, right?

The money players get back when a house is demolished isn't a refund though, it's compensation for having lost the plot.

If someone wants to willing give up their plot they choose to do so and therefore get nothing. They can opt to let it get demolished and get the money then, but at the inconvenience of having to wait 45 days (once the demolition timer restarts that is...).

Sorry I don't agree with tenants having rights on the house either. It's a personal house, it's supposed to only be owned by the own person, the one who's name is on the sign outside. If it's a shared house, it should be bought as a FC house (which has the ability to change automatically change owners if the master of the FC is inactive as well as all members of the FC reset the timer)

I don't think it is an inconvenience I would wait 45 days if I wanted rid of my personal house. I am sure a lot would have the same mentality instead of gaining nothing. So if that's the case lets speed it up and give players same amount of gil back when relinquishing.

If you're happy to wait the 45 days... what's the problem with leaving that wait then? Your two statements kind of conflict...

Edit: I forgot to add, housing is supposed to be a gil sink (because we have so many new ways of adding money to the game housing is one of the few ways to remove it). SE would rather not money back at all for housing demolishing, but they do it as compensation for having lost the plot so they get less people coming after them with pitchforks and even then the 35 collection is because they hope you won't collect the money in time so it can be removed from the game.

They don't want people to wait 45 days, they want housing to be relinquished straight away to remove that money straight away, but they can't exactly stop someone not entering their house for 45 days. All they could really do would be change it to tie it to logins (on the server as a whole, not inside the house itself), but they must have felt that making it so people have to enter the house would demolish more often (and they probably don't want to force people not to log in for 45 days so they can demolish as they'd like your subscription money...)

Remember they only added house demolition after we complained so much about lack of housing and empty houses taking up space. It's apparently very hard for them to add more wards so this was a partial solution in response to our requests to remove inactive houses so other people could get them.

Love it when my edit is actually longer than my original post... :S
