It really isnt bad at all, its just not what it was. level 1-10 isnt something you do in 2 minutes. a challenging fight is now one that is 1 level higher than you or the same level.

How many MMOs, can you get 1/5th of the cap in 1 hour? Fact is, you have done it all before, thats why you are bored. You really shouldnt have killed your chr, the reason its supposed to be easier when you got money items and skills is because, hey you just need to rush through.

People who have never played before probably wouldnt be too shocked that soloing 1-10 might take them awhile. Like i said before the biggest problem is probably going to be getting low level gear.

Tbh im a low lvl (less than 20). Lvl 14 Mar, and it's great fun.

I don't get much play time per week (mostly weekends, a couple of hours durring the week if im lucky, so im definately a part time gamer), but for once i am actually engaged into the gameplay. The fights do feel more like fights now, not something i can click aimlessly on whilst reading a book with my other hand.

As for the exp, I'm already finding that if you consider your battles before hand and plan ahead; you can get loads of exp in only a short amount of time!

I say I'm in favor of the new style this game has to offer

What kind of weird logic did you use to come up with 1/5th of the level cap? 10/50 is literally 1/5th, but in terms of XP and time spent (the part that matters) it's probably less than 1% or 1/100th. Don't support your argument with fallacies. It only goes to invalidate your entire argument.

His choice of measurement may have been incorrect but the point still stands.

Just get a friend to power level you, or something, isn't friendship magic?
Wow, what a balanced game! The only real effective way to level and not be bored to tears is to get powerleveled. Do people not see the glaringly obvious flaws in this logic?
Truth! Do you remember FFXI solo on new chars? Rest every mob, if you didn't die from a Decent Challenge! :P
Yeah, because that sounds like so much fun! The only reason any of us did it in FFXI is because we didn't know any other way. Very few people liked the grind in FFXI. Why the heck do you think they added Abyssea?

For me this patch is an improvement in gaining exp for lvs.
I was worried reading all comments before i tried the patch out but found that in fact maybe my worries where wrong.
I dont know how people lv up before this update but the change from 1.18 is good one.
My biggest worry was knowing the exp curve was massive compared to final fantasy 11 exp curve but maybe this can be adjusted if the lvs go over lv 50cap.
Feel of battle is also massive improvement over final fantasy 11 atm for me at least for this patch.
I like that i can go do the side quests and gain exp. i may be bit less motivated to lv another class/ job though

Go level a job from level 1 and then give some feedback, I think you'll be amazed at the difference. Were you leveling on your MRD main? If so, by 30 the combat is COMPLETELY different. Mobs give lots more XP, you have a lot of abilities to use, and leves and behest are actually rewarding. At low levels, none of that is true.

I just heard SE is thinking of giving an item that will give you all classes level 50 if you want it!!!

But in all seriousness the game is not supposed to be a walk in the park like it has been, if you have to rest every 1-3 mobs below lvl 20 it doesnt take that long to rest to full hp anyway.

I'm leveling up on a fresh character right now and I pretty much think the leveling curve and the challenge feel just right. Not too fast like it was for a few months, but not a punishing slog either. I love being able to grab a friend, get some leves done and have our asses handed to us at a 2 star. I love being able to attack groups of enemies without having to worry about lost xp. I love being able to work party positioning into battle strategy and the fact that enemies higher than a rank or 2 will destroy you if you aren't careful. I love the rush I get from trying to get as many xp chains as I can before needing to rest.

    In short, level 1 -10? It's alright.

So I'm guessing that you haven't given yourself any handouts then? No money/gear from your main and all that?

Anyways, people seem to be missing the point. This patch essentially brings back the worst part of FFXI by making the prospect of grouping so lucrative--and if it's 40k/hr in a group (mentioned above) vs. 15k/hr solo (what I get killing enemies 1 level lower than me), that's ridiculously lucrative--that you'd have to be a masochist to want to solo, at least at low levels. However, it's even worse this time around since there's no efficient way to look for a party; you're basically confined to Ul'dah (or if you want to REALLY test your luck, you can stand around an aetheryte camp and hope that someone comes along) /shouting yourself hoarse until you hopefully, maybe, possibly, get a response.

I suppose a person could ask their LSmates, assuming that they haven't levelled everything past the low levels already, or would even want to spend time levelling in the worst part of the game when there's a dozen people in LS chat who they can level with in the good parts of the game. Let's see: kill marmots at level 15 with someone, or kill a fire demon with all these other people for phat loot and bitches? Tough choice, amirite?
