That's a good point, but I wouldn't call it a "crutch." It's more of a glaring design flaw that will wreck the balance in the game.
That's what happens when you rebuild a game that's live. I don't disagree with you on any point, but all of this was inevitable when they decided to keep the servers running. I'm not too business savvy, but if it were me, I would have taken the game offline and went back into development after launch. Why? Because the game continues to carry an extremely negative stigma so keeping it running hasn't done them any favors and it would have saved me money from server bills.
I wish to add tot his topic and say that power leveling is overpowered now compared to before which was done anyways. My friend went from level 35-44 in 2 hours from a raptor party level 45+ this is ridiculous. Anyone else who disagree this is not broken as hell is either just ignorant/ does not want people to rain on their parade.
If they make getting levels this stupidly easy everyone will be roaming around with all class to level 50 and have nothing else to do and just whine about game having no content, etc.
currently there is no cap for penalty for being in a party with anyone this is too much. When i first started playing this game i always told my friend that if you could AoE a lot of enemy and just get super retarded xp because he was level 40 and i was 1 and was getting max cap xp/sp and he just laughed and said it would break the game.....well now that same joke came to reality and now its insanity.
SE needs to address this asap, good thing someone had the cojone to say it thank you.
P.S- level 1-25 in 30 minutes @.@ SE needs to trow down the hammer.
I wonder why people started power leveling so much?
I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that solo play is now far more tedious than ever. God help you if you're leveling your first job and it's Gladiator.
I never understood the concept of the need for solo play in an MMO. It is a multiplayer game, why don't people like playing it like one?

Taking this a little too seriously? If you have friends and been playing for a while, you have an advantage. But to anyone coming in new. I am sure they are not going to have access to a power leveler right away. Also, isn't leveling just the learning curve for the true experience? Don't need to grind all day to learn your class.
You know almost every MMO most people can max a class in a week if they are on everyday? Same concept with FFXIV. I could get a WoW toon up to 35 in one night if I wanted to, and that isn't saying I have skill, anyone with time and experience can pull that off.
You basically want the FFXI experience, but don't forget, this is FFXIV.
Teacher teacher, you forgot to give us homework.......SHUTUP!!!
My biggest concern is that if you can level 1 - 30 in two days... and 30-50 in another week... that means a lot of mid level areas/content is completely obsolete.
Also, what about all the R1-45 gear that is completely a waste. Why would you really buy armor or weapons that will be obsolete in one day. Why would you ever try to convert materia of a R35 item since you will never use it?
I think the power leveling shifts EVERYTHING to END GAME content. Everything that comes before that won't be used (content, crafting mats, crafting gear pre rank 50).
Exactly. So why would they want this power leveling to this THIS extreme? My biggest concern is that if you can level 1 - 30 in two days... and 30-50 in another week... that means a lot of mid level areas/content is completely obsolete.

Doesn't make sense.
