Yeah, most normal content you don't really need it. The problem really only comes up when you're in an EX trial or a raid.

With most of those you really need everyone on the same page, because if one person doesn't know what they're doing, they will get everyone killed. They're going to have to know the strategy one way or another before you can have a chance of beating it, so its best to spend a couple minutes watching it in a video, rather than making someone type it out in chat. As it stands anyways, most of these strats are so complex that its going to take a lot of trial and error to actually remember how it all works in the heat of battle anyways, so even if you aren't "learning on the go," you're still going to be spending a lot of time figuring out how to put what you just watched into practice.

I fear this doesn't solve the problem. Being in the possession of the new skills doesn't seem to hinder some people to NOT use them, unfortunately.

When I said "solve this from happening" I was talking about getting members who don't even have the spells/abilities even unlocked. If the DF tells them they need to do them it will force them to unlock what they should have for their job and/or let people know they are missing something they should have.

The BLM in my situation was just completely clueless. He had no idea he was missing stuff cause as I was leaving he asked where to get those quests. If the DF told him he was missing something he would have actively searched out what he was missing since the DF is pretty integral to actually making progress in the game. He somehow missed the fact that 50-60 had job quests so another reminder as a requirement for level 60 DF content would fix that issue happening where you load in with people who don't even have it unlocked. That's what I said it would solve.

People who just choose not to use their abilities/spells is another issue. At least if people have stuff unlocked they can be offered help to learn how to use their tool kit if they wish for assistance.

When I actually got around to coils turn 5 I had watched a video, and had an idea of what was supposed to happen, but it still took practice to actually 'learn' it.

For some infathomable reason, I feel like BLM is becoming the new lolDRG. And as a BLM main, I can feel my soul slowly dying with each DF BLM I run into.

Things like: casting Flare at full MP. Using single target rotation when yours truly pulls 5+ mobs, hoping for AoEs. Using Transpose when Blizzard/Fire III is available. Hardcasting Thunder while in Astral Fire. Casting Sleep for whatever reason.

The latest such genius, I ran into in Sastasha HM. I was PLD. Their idea of using Flare went something like this:

Flare (at max MP or near-max-MP) --> Convert --> Blizzard III --> Fire --> Fire --> I don't even know because I'm going to start crying if I pay any more attention.

This run took 30+ minutes. The Kraken took so long to kill, the SCH actually asked if it had an enrage.

Hubby and I did a dungeon with what appeared to be another couple... the entire run all the two did in party chat was type "ribbit" back and forth to each other... for 20min straight! Sure, the first few times it was cute but then it just kept going... and going... like the damn Energizer bunny...

Needless to say, this was quite annoying... I wanted to jump through my TV screen and strangle them both, continuously.

Ooh haven't started on the new dungeons or anything yet, just had enough time for my dailies and roulettes last night, other than the wipes is it fun??

& to stay on topic
had an awesome run of Qarn, was actually sad when a tank arrived. Went into an in progress, apparently the tank d/cd so they kicked and the other DPS left cause it was their friend.
First message in the chat was "wtf" so was a bit worried! But I needn't have been, we did the first boss minus a tank and the first three stone heads that need to fall on platforms, all perfect
Said at the end I wanted to give them all a comm, unfortunately the other DPS ran off too quickly but it made my decision easier :P

And for a confusing one, "duty failed" on Steps of Faith. I've done this once before during the msq as my BRD then healed it twice now, never knew you could actually fail >.< but I did get to shoot down a NIN who, after another BRD used lb did the usual "Lb wasted... >.>". There was a good wait from when the Tanks asked for lb and when the BRD started channelling that the NIN could have used it, the BRD, like me, obviously thought no one else was going to use it. So just went back to the NIN and said "well, get to it quicker next time then :P". Luckily they didn't kick off!

Time for some day one stories I get people are new, but this was just terrible.


Probably don't need to say the Mhach/Nidhogg stories. People not listening when people explain stuff, continuous wipes for an hour.

But anyways, I went to spam Hullbreaker to get new pants for glamour and there were some ok pts, some super amazing pts and then there was this pt... The run was going slow as molasses, so I check the pt. They're barely the ilvl requirement. Figure ok, maybe they haven't played in a while, thats fine. Well, all three of them were new so I ask if they need an explanation of the fights. All I get is "We're new ", so ok, I explain, only to get yelled at because "we said no but you explained anyways", because saying you're new means no? >_> So, we get to the last boss, I decide not to say anything this time. Well, we wipe, to easily avoidable things, such as AoEs you can step out of etc... when the chests popped up, each time the healer completely ignored them and just ran to bombs and one time, as I'm waiting by a chest for a potion, she sprints in towards mine, ends up getting it before me and goes "I need it more than you do", then she proceeds to die from not esuna heavy.

This wasn't even a "oh I'm new" type of fail, it was a "oh I'll just ignore everything and pew pew, thats how you play, right?!" -.- That also sums up Mhach too lol


Also, bit of a funny one, I queued up for trials, got ifrit. Now, as mch, I never get to use my lb, so I go to do lb3 and the drg flips out at me lol I mean come on, it's ifrit hm, you don't even need the lb for it.
