Because limiting gears to make everyone look the same is a way to make everyone not looking the same?

I tried to fight to keep the Optimal Rank system as I feel it could be a truly great system with a few tweaks. However the incessant bitching of others apparently has more value and they've decided to go with all required gear. Not the end of the world though, I was following optimal anyway so it's not a huge change.
I personally think making certain items class restricted allows them to make that armor balanced more for that specific class, rather than as before generally being weaker and not as "class defining" (specialized stats etc.). I think that is more important than your ability to roleplay in every single style of armor.
Sorry as an example:
CASTER in TANK gear is laughable...should not mix...either one or the other...casters wear robes for a reason..you can move the body and hands more nimbly to chant a spell...that's why they are also squishy...
This fake equipment just because you can is lame. I'm glad they got rid of it...if they want it to come back it's simple make a couple vanity slots where if you throw something in your visual changes.
When vanity hurts the game then the point of the vanity item is lost. Vanity items are meant for uniqueness in look...but should not affect game play...
Equipment Favors...AFFECTS gameplay heavily. THANK YOU for removing it Yoshida.
yeah, I agree it's dumb. I think a more simple solution wold be just giving us appearance slots instead. Then you could have whatever you wanted show.Seriously.
I was wanting to wear my Cobalt plate armor with my Lancer, because I am NOT a fan of the current high-level scale mail. The level/class requirement is a big eff-you to the player that wants to be able to wear items as vanity equipment as opposed to actual functional gear. I mean, as a Lv50 LNC, I can't wear Red Cobalt Gauntlets and Sabatons to match my Limsan Soldier's Overcoat, because of the class requirement. The result is that I have to wear crappy, old Dated Iron armor in the meantime. >:|
Yoshi-P, please abolish class requirements for non-unique player-crafted equipment, especially armor. I do not like the idea of armor being another "identifying factor" of classes, like they are in FFXI. I very much liked the ability to mix and match my armor, regardless of which class it favored, to my aesthetic tastes prior to these changes.
P.S. I looked through the data for the new equipment that allows LNC to equip, and I noticed something VERY glaring...No Lv49 or Lv50 armor that favors LNC! It's all 47 or under...(and they don't look as good as the plate armor, either) WHAT THE HELL, YOSHI-P. YOU GOT SOMETHING AGAINST LANCER OR SOMETHING!??!

Of course no one is going to be happy if you compare two opposing sides as though they're the same being. It doesn't give me something to look forward to personally, there's nothing in this game to look forward to. I'd like to at least equip a piece of gear in the meantime regardless of my class.
If you spend so much time worrying about what another player wears on a different server you should really sit back and think about your life choices.
Does it matter? You're going to be a half-naked cat *** no matter what you wear.

I have no problem with this. I actually have to purchase new gathering gear though. Gonna wait till 43 to get boarskin stuff.
If this is how you feel after seeing everything that's in 1.19, you might as well quit now and never look back, because this game will NEVER satisfy you.
