You do have to keep in mind that what is used to match is your rating rather than your rank. Since there are overlaps, a bronze and a silver might very well both have the same rating, except one is doing qualifiers and the other got through already. The same could be said between gold and silver. Even within the same rank, you could have a 900 gold and a 1400 gold and the system has to account for it by giving the 900 gold stronger teammates.
I think that the issue in this case is one of visibility. Simply showing a rank leaves too much out of the portrait. The easiest fix would be to show actual ratings on the scoreboard. Another solution would be to give some kind of hint of where the player is within the rank. Say "Silver-" if you just made it there and "Silver+" when you are doing gold qualifiers.
I love when two Gold DPS cannot kill anything till 2 minutes into Culling time, and then they accuse me of being shitty healer. Oh, the irony. And then I switch job, que again, they are paired with Platinum healer and still lose.
Anyways, it looks like after 1000 points you gain less points for winning than lose for losing, that's why 50% of Golds on my DC have between 1000 and 1100 rating, which roughly matches their 55% win rate.
I can't deal.
I was 1279 two days ago and now I am flirting with 900.
Why am I training bronzes in exchange for losing my rank? Will Yoshida apologize with a set of PvP armor?
There's a reason more than half of the players in top 100 stop queuing after reaching what they feel is a safe enough amount of rank points. Trust me you are not the first to go from mid 1000s (though in your case its low 1000s) down to 900 or lower nor will you be the last either unfortunately. All anyone can tell you is its something everyone is dealing with and the next time you're in good point standings you should just stop queuing if you really care about getting the armor (which from the 3.3 preview video is pretty ugly but eh its a bragging item more than anything I suppose so it doesn't matter).

If you care so much about rewards you should make an alt character. Once you reach the ''comfort zone'' in the 100 go pvp on your alt.
I can relate to this lately, I'm on an absolutely brutal streak. Was 1 win away from Plat on my qualifier, and it's been all downhill since then. I seem to be consistently getting lower rank DPS on my team, versus mid/high gold DPSs. I actually lost a match earlier where the kills were 2-1 in our opponents' favor -- we hit level 4 Culling Time and couldn't come close to killing their 5 stack tank.
It's really frustrating when it feels like your healing is never quite good enough. I haven't played the best during this stretch, but the imbalanced matchmaking just seems to be exacerbating it quite a bit. It's a really helpless feeling.

I would prefer not having to game the system in order to enjoy competitive, ranked PvP; if people don't care about the rewards, there's a non-competitive, unranked queue for funzies.
Sadly I guess there is not... Already had many losing streaks and the matchmaking continued to punish me with unranked players...Even if there are not enough people nothing explains why there are two Gold in one party and two Bronze of the same role in another. It should be 1 Gold and 1 Bronze in each. Maybe there are some hidden algorithms, like a person with a lose streak is matched with higher ranked players for a higher chance to win. Like PvP echo, lol.
I was quing as a healer for instant ques but dropped from 800 to 500 in a single day when I started to get matched against Platinum dps, their focus and damage output is unhealable for me. At least got 50 wins as a healer achievement for all my trouble. Now, as a dps, I have much higher win rate, but que times are also much higher. Nobody wants to heal because of constant verbal abuse so we all suffer for it.
