I don't think insulting someone is the right thing to do but you can still enjoy the game and dislike something a developer does, there's no reason to tell someone to stop playing that's such a reddit/youtube thing to say and it comes across and white knighting when someone doesn't like someone on the dev team and no one likes a white knight.

Well, FFXIV got already every common race you find in any other MMORPG:

The human race: Hyur
The elf-like race: Elezen
The tiny/cute race: Lalafell
The big/orc-like race: Roe
The sexy (furry) race: Miqote
The demonish race: Au Ra

It wont make much sense to add a new race with every expansion. Add Viera with 4.0 is absolutely fine. But it should be last race for a longer time. After that, they should better focus on a deeper costumization, because there is alot unused potenial.

I fixed the descriptions a little. First of all, Roegadyn are nothing like orcs. Have you even seen an orc? They have big teeth and are uglier than some undead. Just because they share some skin colours doesn't mean they look the same. That's like saying Miqo'te look like fish because they can both be blue. This is an orc:



Secondly, why should Viera be the last race, when we have yet to cover so many types of races? We already have a "cute furry race". We also have "awkward proportions / long limbs". We have both girly and mature human-looking females. What we lack is ferocity, full bestial appearance (see Tauren / Pandaren / Draenei / Worgen in WoW and Sylvari(plant) / Charr in Guild Wars 2), some major animal types (fish & bird, we already have mammal and reptile looking races), some fantasy race types (dwarf, goblin), non-alive race (robots, stone race, undead race) and any race with a "higher being" vibe to them to balance out the "demon" archetype (angels, nephilim, high elves, ancients, ethereal/astral beings, padjal as playable characters). The Viera is none of these, not even ferocious going by every art drawing I've seen. So many options and people want a damn rabbit? Come on.

I think it's absolutely not fine to add this Viera race I see in pictures. It's so close to the races we already have, unless the devs actually give them a rabbit's face including the full fur, big front teeth and beady eyes. If you don't think the purpose of race options is to add variety and expand the customer base, that's your prerogative, but I think Viera in the form that's shown ITT would be a waste of resources and make this game even less appealing to those who don't care for the kawaii girl-with-animal-ears stuff.

That would be doing a disservice to the Viera making them look like actual rabbits. The Viera in XII are fine enough to stand out in this game, if you google them you'll see they're like XI's races, actual animal traits instead of what we have in XIV, human with a tail and animal ears. I know you've come straight from WoW but Viera are ferocious hunters in their original game and their designs show it, Fran the poster FFXII viera especially. dunno what ones you're looking at.

It's okay thought it was a Final Fantasy race I didn't know about. I'd like to see Burmecian too but only as a way of actually seeing if the dev team could find the time to make armor sets fit their physique.

or in XIV's case, the burmecians will be Hyur with mice ears and tails

I would like to see some robot-like (allagan-like?) races or something like worgen/werewolf/charr. I m totally agree with that and to have some unique or non-human races would be a nice addition. Sure, its clearly not for everyone, but its always nice to have more variety.

But I could imagine, it would take much work to design this race and change every single gear/weapon to fit this specific race. Maybe thats the reason, why Au Ras looking more like Miqotes/Hyur.

There's no need to remodel everything if you don't make it non-humanoid shape. Textures other than regular looking human skin are a good way to make something appear non-human, whilst keeping the basic shape.



Besides, the Viera would also need all foot gear remodeled or they wouldn't be the Viera that is being asked for.
