There are still many types of polearms and the dragoon style does not befit the use a good portion of them. Lumping all polearm-esque weapons under dragoons piercing style is actually doing them a disservice really.

It's like when rdm comes out and uses a rapier. A rapier is technically a sword but, you can't just say their techniques would be the same as a paladins as they use a completely different style of combat. Slash vs piercing again.
