Who says AST is not fun? It's really really enjoyable (Only the levelling at dungeon is pretty tough like at Vault because MP management) even at Seal Rock it's really fun to play as AST than WHM and SCH.

Sorry my comment wasn't directed at you. I love Astrologian. It's a really fun role. Only thing I don't like is running lower dungeons like 50 roulette etc cause many of the cool skills are higher up.

White Mage if you want to primarily heal.

Scholar if you want to primarily DPS.

Astrologian if you don't want invites.

When I am in a group and I give them the option of whm, sch or ast 90% of the time I am asked to come on ast. So.....

Which is great because I LOVE ast way more than my other healers

I actually never had mp issues in the Vault as an AST and its still my favorite dungeon because at least theres some kind of challenge! I also really enjoy AST

My level 60 White Mage is very intuitive to play and has "oh crap" abilities when things go south for even low level runs, but my level 40 Scholar has a faerie that goes really well with the unicorn mount and is getting more and more fun abilities for higher level play.

Is it worth getting top gear (mainly weapons as other stuff would be the same) for both, or should I just pick one to focus on?

In your case I will upgrade WHM weapon first. ^^;

I still like WHM/SCH for progression but I love SCH/AST on farm. I still think SCH/AST works well together than a AST/WHM combo, that's just me. For the OP go with whatever you enjoy the most, there healers are different and it depends on what you like more, giving people amazing card buffs, strong burst heal or party mitigation heals. So it's either ast, whm or sch. I don't have ast unlocked so can't really talk so much about it but I love sch and I love whm as well. I just simply went for sch, loving to dps and be the guy putting shield on people.
