Nobody said anything about not putting time into a game, or about instant gratification for that matter.
I spend a lot of time in the game - with the things I enjoy in the game. I do not enjoy crafting, so why should I do it when the whole point of a game is to enjoy one's time?
But with the things I do enjoy, I help others. Why is it so wrong to take some of the "very much" one has and help others with it who have nothing?
Just because it was hard for you when you started out?
Does everyone else have to suffer just because you suffered once?
The first person to invent the wheel, should he have also said "omg how horrible, people expect an easy ride nowadays, I had to carry everything on my back before I invented the wheel, they should as well so I'll hide my invention from them"?
Have you never read a guide or used a parser or one of the many other things people worked hard at to make just so you have it easier, coming after them?

So actually, YES, let's build a community where 90% of the people have a mindset of "I do what I'm good at and share it with others and they do what they are good at and share it with me", because I'm sure that would be a more friendly and more happy community than what we have on several servers right now >.>

(And before this gets personal - I have a house and am quite content with it; and I get by just fine with what money I have and if there is something I can't afford and I'm not willing to work for it I'm fine with not having it too, because, as I said before, I'd never beg for anything. But I feel like your post doesn't just attack those who want help but also those who are willing to give help instead of going full Ebenezer Scrooge on everyone else)

I don't know how to build a wheel, actually. I bet a lot of people don't. I also don't know how to build a car, or how quantum physics work. But I know how to build fitting irrigation systems, or a sewage treatment plant, which is something a lot of people probably don't know. Humanity is as efficient and successful as it is because we are a society of specialists and because everyone uses the things they are good at and enjoy to provide others with the fruit of their work instead of expecting everyone to be able to do everything themselves.

But in exchange for the fruit of their work, people are supposed to get the fruit of the recipient's work, which is what enables specialists to survive. You can build irrigation systems until the cows come home, but if nobody pays you for the work, you'll still starve.

Just because somebody has all the gatherer/crafter classes doesn't means he'll got the same strategy, the same succes, the same time than like you all guys. Keep that in mind plz but i'm pleased to see more answers and some defense for this topic too.
