I'll only be interested if they have a DRK-cosplaying Jibanyan.
I triedYoukaiYo-Kai Watch, both the demo and the game, and found it lacking depth on many fronts. That doesn't stop Jibanyan from beingabsolutely adorablekinda cute.

Yo-Kai are voidsent that people blame for every day maladies
Lost your RNG roll?
DC during an instance?
Forgot to turn on collectibles while gathering or crafting?
All those are Yo-Kai doings

I looked up what all they're putting in for the event... pretty much all the series staples, weapons based on them, and a Whisper mount. (Plus the titularYoukaiYo-kai Watch as a wearable wrist item).
Strange, this is. The target demographics for Yo-kai Watch and this game hardly overlap; the former is by far the lightest 'mons series I've yet seen (probably aimed at kids 6-12), while the latter is developed primarily for older teens and up.
Ah well, who needs to try and rationalize it?! Jibanyan in XIV!

Level-5 lately has been known for franchises made for kids that also appeal to adults' sense of nostalgia, though Akihiro Hino was also the producer and director for the last few single-player Dragon Quest games, which are games for adults made to look like they're for kids. I'm seeing this as an attempt to reach out to players who were fans of his earlier stuff, but drew the line at elementary-school-targeted stuff likeYoukaiYo-kai Watch.
Considering Akihiro Hino is CEO, founder, and creative director of Level-5, and Yoshi-P got promoted to the Board of Directors after Heavensward, the approval process probably amounted to going out for beer and arranging a playdate for their brainchildren. That's the Power of Friendship at work.
