How often do the different Races inter-mingle with each other?

I'm well aware of Eorzea frowning upon interracial coupling a bit despite being a more open-minded place, but from the various NPCs I've found like the on at Limsa Lominsa near Aftcastle where a Miqo'te and Hyur are "together"... not in the romantic sense really... and then there's the Aleport Hyur and Roe girl which I can NOT find though someone mentioned and got me thinking.

Outside of the city-states, how often do the folks of different races (Hyur, Miqo'te, Lalafell, Roegadyn, Elezen, and Au Ra)... especially among Adventurers... do they often couple up like the two guys from the Wanderer's Palace Story Quest.

Which races are the most likely to pair up with other races? So far is seems like Hyur and Miqo'te are the most likely to mingle with the other races.

Any lore on this? I know there's hardly any offsprings of two races aside from Hilda (who I like and wish to see more in the story) due to how Eorzea... is not keen of mixing and how rare they seem to exist.

Any other NPCs right now in the game showing different race pairings?

Given the racial diversity in the cities, im actually surprised that we don't see it more often. Though the likely reason is that the races are conditioned to be more attracted to their own race. Races with similar physiology makes sense (like in hilda case), but I don't want to imagine a roegadyn and a lalafell doing the dirty (shudder)

Also, we have specific lore regarding the mating patterns of several races and sub races, and they are vastly different (just looking at sun and moon miqote shows differences), it might be these mating differences that makes interracial bonds difficult

Or they just have a biologically inherited in-group preference. *Shrugs* Makes sense to me that they would have, as opposed to it simply being conditioning. I suspect it's quite rare, on the whole, to interbreed.

It's a real shame that the protagonists in this game are very modern in their morality. I suppose that's why I, personally, find them so boring. Imagine the tension if, for example, Aymeric wasn't all that keen on outsiders but swallowed his pride for the greater good of his people? Instead, he's without any flaw - and every Ishgardian who expresses contempt towards non-Ishgardians is pushed as a villain/antagonist. Yawn.
Yup, certainly agree on the above.

It seems to be a lot more common among adventurers since it's pretty much part of their profession to accept work from a whole lot of different people from varying races/ cultures. In fact, many adventurers npcs we run across have been multi-racial: Edda's crew, that other crew we saw near the beginning (roe, miqo'te, lalafell) and everywhere adventurer npc hang out have been multi-racial group.

Here's an interview that's kinda relavant on this subject matter:
MCKF: I touched on this a little bit today in the live stream and there was a question about relationships between the races and crossbreeding. A lot of it doesn’t happen because while we have all these races living together in Eorzea, there’s this tension between them. That’s there because they have these histories of fighting for a long time and then not really making up, but agreeing to disagree and living together because it’s better than living by our self and being more susceptible to Garlean attacks or whatever. We work together because we have a common enemy type of thing. Most of the races don’t really like each other and it”s gone on through multiple Eras. There are times when Eorzea has been more populated by one race over another and there will be conflict there. With the Hyur and Elezen, that’s very recent. In the sixth astral era, Elezen migrated in and in that era they were like “we’re the first ones here!” even though they weren’t, but they were the first at the beginning of the sixth astral era and they settled and of course the pesky Hyur who are everywhere come in and the Elezen are like “oh my god we left you that whole continent up there why are you here!” and the Lalafell come in and you have these cycles of clashing and moving part and that gets ingrained in their society and their racial cultures. There’s always these power struggles, you’ll have times when the Lalafell rise for whatever reason and they’l side with one group and then turn on another group and that’s one of the reasons there’s not a lot of interracial relationships because even though they’re living in the same towns it’s like well yeah… but you’re an Elezen.

F: I can just imagine some young Elezen bringing home a Hyur woman and the Grandma going “Why couldn’t you have found a nice Elezen girl!”

MCKF: There’s a lot of that going on. Like i mentioned in the stream, in the future we’ll have some characters that are half one race and half another ...

With that said, we pretty much have to keep in mind that Eorzea Alliance we see now (as well as adventurers) are came to be roughly 15 (?) or so years ago. Prior to that:
    1. Gridania was Isolated
    2. Ishgard was was roughly the same
    3. Limsa was not the limsa we know under Merlwyb, it was a pirate capital
    4. Ul'dah speaks for itself

Other than trades, there were not that much interaction between the city states themselves.

But if I were to guess, midlander hyur- elezen relation in Gridania is great. It's the basis for how Gridania was founded.

Ul'dah once had a hyur (Thorn) Dynasty ruling over.

Are you referring to the Male Lalafell x Female Roegadyn pairing... or the other way?

    @myahele
Well for the Adventurers I had a feeling... considering the players can have their characters marry any race they want.

I do hope SE or Yoshi-P covers more of this in the future, I really like the world of FFXIV and I'm curious about this.

Interesting enough in the Postman Moogle Questline there's a Hyur trying to court Momodi, the Lalafell owner of the Quicksand in Ul'dah, and the other Lalafell that Momodi had a thing for but they went as being good friends in the end mention to the Hyur when he met him that he had "good tastes" even though Momodi was turning him down. Quite interesting... though it seems like Hyur are the race most likely to mingle with others with Miqo'te and most likely Elezen soon after.

I wonder if the Scions are open to it? I know Thancred has at least flirted with every female race in the series... though I don't think I've seen him flirt with Roegadyn women before, he has? I know he flirted with Yugiri or at least tried to get her attention I believe.

I like Miqo'te and Au Ra girls and I like to see Hyur x Miqo'te/Au Ra pairings. Heck even some Hyur x Roegadyn pairing as well as I've admittedly find some Roegadyn women attractive in their own right.

The fate in costa del sole where you guide the female miqo'te escort to the male roe pirate for "business"

One of them is bound to get pregnant at some point lol

In other words, you've twisted the possible motivation behind the tolerance of adventurers to fit your own conspiracy theory. Mmkay.

Look, not everything is a bid to make Garlemald look bad.

Nice try, but no - that's not the case at all. I just think it's a shame that there's no real racism displayed in-game by the protagonists. I find politically correct protagonists dull and tiresome. They don't all need to be edgy anti-heroes either, of course, but some variety would be pretty neat. I want more heroes with flaws that fit the setting. Not heroes who are 'too cocky' or 'overestimate their abilities but somehow prevail against all odds anyway'.

I just feel like the whole 'adventurers are more tolerant' thing is just an excuse to avoid touching on racism at all unless it's to add a stereotypical bad trait to an established antagonist.

I mean, there's a lot of lore hidden away that isn't showcased. Ul'dah screwed over the Beast Races and had them exiled from the city. It's barely mentioned in-game. Gridania in 1.0 was a lot more xenophobic...but again, it isn't really showcased in-game to the same extent.

I'm pretty sure there is some of that "keeping it on the down low because real life" going on too. Not that i'd want everyone to be jerks, far from it, it just seems like too convienient at times, and im sure its to keep player sensibilities in mind. Best not get any more specific.
