I'm just having a hard time figuring out why'd you want 8k mp if you hit like a week noodle. What's the point?

Simply because I can. That's the beauty of having a Crafted set and later a full Lore set which will go the usual cookie cutter VIT/STR build. Even if all tanks will still hit like a "weak noodle" no matter what you do in comparison to say a fulltime Crit Warrior or DPS classes in general. Until a DRK can hit a DASE in Grit and heal for 2k noncrit guaranteed meaning you marginally can restore about 10% of max HP(if you had say 22k) across 3 weaponskills I will remain uninterested. If it is possible however now would be the time to tell me.
It's mostly just for fun though even if I'd love to see more use out of other stats then just 1 or 2 and secondaries doing more then just boosting stat 1 and stat 2.

But they can if you went the "cookie cutter" way. And a decent DRK can hold his own against a WAR in dps. I mean its almost better you stack parry.
Can't believe I said that gonna throw up now.
You sorta remind me of my old co tank back in final coil (PLD) he had So many crafted sets with elemental materia only problem is he couldn't take a hit AT ALL. He was an odd one though always theory crafting and making elemental melded armor
...... Context. See explanation below:
This post is implying "If you stack enough Piety to reach 8k mp, you will be hitting like a wet noodle because you are sacrificing well over 50 Attack Power for gains you will never realistically see, due to the fact that Mana is not a resource so much as a mechanic which modulates in discrete chunks."
And at the above - that's pretty fair. I wish I could see the source, though, to compare.
I'll have another look for you when I get home tonight, because I feel bad presenting an argument without the evidence to back it up....... Context. See explanation below:

As for MP, a max meld will get you 198 piety, which is what......1000mp (if someone wants to confirm for me)..... so just half of a DA at the start....yeah never seeing the use for it. As jack said, it's a mechanic not a resource, so even this initial boost is not useful outside of 3 minute dps parses.
