How about we all just put the responsibility for the problem right back in the lap of SE where it belongs.

We all pay the same sub fee and we all should have access to the same features in the game, including housing, without the jumping through hoops to pay rent or log in at a certain time or whatever. When you obtain gear or items, or mounts or minions in the game, do they disappear when you take a break from the game? Of course not. Your character and progression are exactly how you left them whether you log out for a day, a week or a year.

Housing should be the same way.
    Yes Thank You

I am still on the side that thinks the 45 days should be based on if your account is active not if you signed on. There can be times when there are issues where you cannot connect to the game but your subscription can be or has been paid for. I have had instances where factors such as my internet provider or psn was preventing me from logging on but like i said my month was still charged. With rent who is to say that it will not have a negative impact on the game economy and people will either not buy things off the market board, raise their prices even higher, or undercut everything.

The only thing that can really fix this is adding more houses or ways to use housing features.

Well no one going to let SE back peddle either and be like "ok we f#&ked up" and redo the housing system from scratch cause they they will get upset about losing their house. So SE got themselves between a rock and a hard place no matter what they do won't be good enough for people.

Yet f2p MMOs do a better job of providing this stuff, and a longer period before losing your house, as well as not permanently losing your items if you're not back soon enough.

Is our situation because SE can't do better, or because they won't? I suspect it's the latter.

    60 days.
People who don't play for 1 month after a patch release don't really need a house.

In those MMOs the housings are full instanced or the devs ignore ghost cities.

Also, instanced non-FC rooms are coming with apartments

It isn't a bad idea really.

I'm kind of curious though. Why do people all of a sudden care about housing? Like um, the first year and a half of 2.0 launch, there were "vacant lots" all over the place. Do people not remember how it used to be anymore? I know that isn't the case anymore and every spot is filled 99.9% of the time. I guess that is how it should be. But why were there vacant spots all over the place for more than a year when the game came out? I bought one of the most expensive ones and I suck at making money... I noticed the houses were being bought up suddenly so I spent two weeks saving up enough gil from crafting/gathering sales for a large and just bought it.

I've love for everyone that wants one to be able to get a place of their own. I just don't understand why there were tons of vacant spots for nearly 2 years and like, over the span of two months, everything remaining got bought. The fact that people got interested and bought them is great though. I like seeing neighbors around. I like the housing wards to be active. I chat up people outside near my summoning bell as I craft and stuff. It's fun.

    Would be more acceptable.

I do believe LOTRO has neighborhoods, gives more than 45 days, and doesn't delete your items no matter how long you're gone (seriously, why is this a thing?). But feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree. Let the reclamation timer start when you let your service account lapse. If someone wants to keep paying real money just to keep a virtual house, then that's on them.

A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

Do you remember personal housing being added, and prices being reduced? That's why.

    I don't get the OP's idea.

We currently have a system where a house is relinquished after 45 days and your rent is "paid" by literally opening the front door.

Why does this need to be over-complicated by using Gil or worse yet, using that terrible idea of having to go buy a token every two weeks?

Funny story: I bought my personal house to spite someone just like some of the entitled players in this thread. They sent me abusive tells and saw it as an attack that I was camping the zone for their plot. The thing was that I was actually sat half afk by the market board just outside my FC house at the time.

I like to think of it as a trophy.
