    I always thought it was funny that they used these really weird Gary's Mod-esque facial animations in the Hildibrand cutscenes, but I could kind of forgive those since they were meant to be wacky zany xD xD xD

    But then they started using it in actual cutscenes...

    I agree! I played as a Mithra for years, but definitely prefer the Miqo'te. At least in this game we don't run around like my grandmother.

    On topic, I prefer XIV's cutscenes because I actually feel like the main character. When I played XI, I felt like I was a random bystander who happened to be there while all these NPCs were doing most of the heroic stuff during its cutscenes. Really it boils down to personal preference.

In XI you were never regarded as anything more special than a mere adventurer who had a penchant for putting their nose where it didn't belong (and thus found themselves in the middle of events that concerned Vana'diel's future), and there was never any explanation as to how they were powerful enough to take down gods, they just were, only to then have the npcs like Aldo and Prishe take all the credit and the player's contribution covered up, "as the truth is too dangerous to reveal yaddayadddayadda" (yes, the end scene for the Windurst storyline pretty much said that).

    At least here in FFXIV, despite the slight tendency to veer into Mary Sue territory, my character actually feels like they really are affecting events and being given credit for what they do, and the storyline actually involving them actively, rather than just a sidekick. But as Anavi said above, it's personal preference.

    Haha, yeah that was my biggest complaint about Mithra. I hated their running animations. That said, a lot of the races' running animations are pretty bad in XIV as well. :<

    I feel like this limits what our character can be a bit, and it also runs into that big problem they'd rather just sweep under the rug about how we're all adventurers of light. I think a slightly generic persona makes for better world consistency, but it's not something I'm really adamant about either. I like the story in XIV just the same.

    XIV certainly has better animation it's not really a question but man at least in 1.0 my character looked a little more alive during cutscenes.

    Female Highlanders have this super stiff look to them when they run, and the female Elezen also have a pretty bad running animation. They're the new grandmas of Eorzea.

    I'll have to have a closer look at the Highlanders and truth be told I don't see enough female Elezen's to have ever formed an opinion on how they run xD

    1.x had good cutscenes even on minor sidequests from, for example, DoH classes but here, the minor cutscenes are these same angles and motions every time, and I don't think the things happening necessarily need to have one in the first place.





    At least most of the MSQ cutscenes and Hildebrand quests are high quality though.
