So for Blue Mage you want to tie in a pointless glamour system to what their spells will look like? Are you serious? The feel of Blue Mage is being able to learn monster skills naturally and not be given them by level ups or by completing job quests. May as well let my BLM glamour a AST's Gravity spell over my Flare at that point.

Blue mage in the past has always been you need these spells or your blu isn't worth it...Yoshi doesn't want it to become that in this game, so the only logical approach to this would be a glamour type system. For every class there is a set number of abilities and spells that they have and use, but with blu you'll have more than that just from the nature of the job. So to counter that adding in ways to slot them out, like in ffxi, is the way to make balance...well then you run into the "you have to have this spell to run with our raid" making you have to put way more into the class than the other classes just to be able to do certain content. At least with the glamour type system you can still run with raids just will have spells that you personally spent the time farming up glamoured over the base spells they gave you from the class quests.

Every spell learned from monsters can fall into certain tiers as well. Like I stated before, AoE type spells and single target spells...well you can take the big spells like thunderbolt for example and give it a base damage, like flare for example, and be able to glamour other spells that would fall into that category over it so you'll still have a powerful base spell and won't be putting something weaker like bomb toss over it...

That's the issue though. BLU always had some immersion by beating on overworld enemies to learn most of their kit. Only thing I'm getting out of this current topic is "Magic Spell Glamour System". I don't even.

Yoshi-P expressed some concern over doing it that way because the fear of people getting kicked for not having a certain spell that's really good. I'm not personally against that sort of behavior, but I understand why he wants to avoid it. IF they add blue mage, the abilities will most certainly be tied to job quests, "hey adventurer, you killed that powerful monster and absorbed it's power in to yourself to learn a new spell themed after said monster! GG!" You get the idea.
