Maybe you just aren't looking, the chests and hair are everywhere, and I see the weapons on a regular basis. Very regular. I don't know what wearing bits and pieces over the full set have to do with it. They are so poplular and clamored for that you almost didn't see a day without a new thread requesting another lightning event, and they eventually put it in the cash shop.

Also, lightning stuff isn't cartoony and actually fits the aesthetic of the game.

Just because you dont see it, doesnt mean others dont. Yokai watch stuff does not fit the aesthetic design of XIV. and that right there breaks the immersive feeling of the world.
It's like being the one guy at a sports game standing in the wrong section wearing the other teams colors. It sticks out like a sore thumb!

I would have been fine with having fates for Yokai watch that would eventually end, but the items will be around forever now. And when the nostalgia wears off and most people stop using them it will stick out even more when that one person is running around on a Yokai mount or with a minion....

The reason why it was popular was because players could not get it anymore. If there is something you cannot get that others players have you want it more. E.G. 7-11 event.

You have a point at one thing. Unless I can verify it statistically I can't really support my claim. As far as immersion goes.... The items are purely opinionated on immersive or not. I like many other's believe they fit in the game well and you as well as other supporter's believe they are not, but regardless on opinion, it is happening. there is no argument to stop it or slow it down all you can do is live with it or don't. This is not to be insulting I am conceding on the previous argument. I am just pointing out that no matter how many arguments the opposing opinion may win or have that the items are coming out. I will personally enjoy them.

In my opinion, this is the absolute worst collab event they could've done. It's just sad that such a fun game like FFXIV has to carry the burden of having Pokemon 2.0 hamfisted into it. One of the most mediocre series in existence...

Others have explained how they don't fit, (eg. Cartoony, plasticy, goofy, texture, not same franchise even, etc.) could you tell me in what way they actually fit in the game? I have seen a lot of supporting reasons as to why they don't fit, but none as to how they do fit. (aside from "because I like them",unless of course I missed that)

Also: Everyone is aware the event is happening and on time, the reason for voicing opinion on it has been stated multiple times, and is fairly obvious.

Yes, it seemed like just a bunch of loose headcanon to support it, rather than anything real, and then saying if you tell yourself it fits, it fits. Then the presentation of Mog weapons as a reason for anything to be in the game, which disregards that mogs have been part of final fantasy forever, and that the mog weapons textures actually match the rest of the game, instead of looking like toys-r-us opened up its Eorzea branch. (Not a fan of the mog weapons myself, aside from when a retainer brings back a whisker to sell.)

He then goes on to say scantly clad warriors are immersion breaking, I grew up in the age of the Conan and Red Sonja movies, so thats pretty much standard fare for me. Besides, the argument that people can create somewhat goofy costumes if they try doesn't answer the question either.
