As a few others have posted, anyone that cries about immersion being ruined are far too late on that. We already got bikini tanks, roe moogles, gear from several other Final Fantasy games, a King Slime hat from Dragon Quest (or Warrior? Meh both are the same to me), turtles that fly with magical farts, and smacking monsters with moogle styled claws for Monks; Yokai-Watch themed minions and weapons seem the LEAST out of place.

I don't really see this crossover immersion breaking that much considering one can easily say that these trends of the toys and mounts came from another land, similar to how a lot of the seasonal events explain how we get certain things.

Well okay, I do see your point and I do agree with you afterall and I apologize
As for stuff like Shiva and friends I see those more as series staples because their appearance changes after each game fitting in their own universe.
Ifrit has come a long way, looking more demonic and human

    to more beast like

Changes like that I don't really see as recycling since each iteration of Ifrit changes itself.

I'm not entirely sure how monsters from another Final Fantasy game breaks your immersion as much as characters from a completely different game line.

Final fantasy has always borrowed and repeated monsters in their games.

Maybe a better comparison can be made else where. Are we going to say Sephirot is heavily ingrained in a previous FF so therefore it breaks your immersion?

    oh the irony
The word you're looking for is hypocrisy.
And Allagan technology is at least part of the universe; Allagan objects are subsequently modeled, textured and rendered in a fashion that matches the rest of the game.
The YW stuff is clearly not. They all look like they were made for a completely different game and then half-assedly imported into XIV. I wouldn't be complaining (as much) if any effort at all were spent trying to make them look like objects that could exist in Eorzea, but Level-5 is too busy trying to market to us another shitty media franchise; art style and integrity be damned.

Yeah, it's not like XIII and XIV are in at least two different universes or anything.
Still the same franchise. And that's what long-running series tend to do; callbacks and recurring elements.

The consumers practically expect such things. Nobody is going to bat an eye at FF13 machinery being in this game because it's still a Final Fantasy game. It is not the same thing as there being Pokemon or Yokais or whatever in this game, and I have no idea why you seem to think we should think it is.

I'd say the flying spinning turtle, Flying fat Chocobo, Fenrir, Behemoth, Bennu, glowing pony and eagle mounts etc. we have now are more ridiculous than the Whisper mount we're getting.
At least most of those are actual Final Fantasy creatures...

Because they're Final Fantasy, that's fine? I think magical farting turtles and horses of every color of the rainbow is more immersion breaking than this crossover event.

Ehh, I'd be okay with them as creatures alone but not as mounts. Like seriously, I though Fenrir and Behemoths were rare and Bennus, Twintania being a mount and the spinning turtle is just ridiculous. The glowing ponies and eagles just bother me being mounts, though.

I know that there are many older fans of Yokai Watch but overall, the target market for that game, and therefore the target market of the FFXIV collaboration tie in, is pre-teen. Is SE moving the target market for FFXIV in that direction? If not, what is the purpose of this collaboration, because it is a departure from the current brand identity,

What's next? A Hello Kitty Tie in?
