I really wouldn't worry to much about the PS3 game and any problems it may have. It may not even release at all. When they can actually provide some evidence the game even exists then you can start fretting about it.

They can make their money like the rest of us did, gathering and crafting.
They were reducing the cost of low level gear from NPCs to something more reasonable, so new players have that and it will help regulate the price of crafted low level gear.
As long as we don't have a The great gil rise of 2005(?) all over again. I think we will be fine. 300mil for scorpion harness! WHAT
I have 8 crafts at 50. All I did was watch T.V. and spam standard for easy mode synths. Enjoy leveling those crafts in 1.19 and beyond everyone!
new players can always ask someone to craft them the item too.
if a new player asks me to craft them some gear i will usually just charge 50% the cost of mats to help em along the way.
i'm the same. depending on how long someone has been in the game i've given many pieces out free.

I believe that with the more simple crafting recipes there will be cheaper equipment out there. There isn't much now because there aren't that many slots to sell them through bazaar. The reason why it was so easy to find things in FFXI was because of the larger playerbase.
With this game, the way the recipes currently are is that making a weapon of any level is just too much of a hassle.
You know, for awhile I had the same worry. But lets face it there will be tons of low level crafters as well pumping out items, so it will balance itself out. The majority of PC crafters will likely stick to the higher tiers.
Any time new players start they ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS strart at a disadvntage
no game should ever go out of their way to punish current players in order to help new players catch up, in fact, new players shouldnt technicaly be able to catch up fully ever.
they can however ease the earlier stages of the game the longer the game has been out(most mmos use this practice and its a fair one)
