you cannot reach requirments. You would need the offhand and mainhand plus 2 ilvl 170/180 pieces iirc. I honestly doubt I will use the new crafting set that will come in 3.3 most likley it will be a omni set that looks horrible. I would rather have to remeld the ilvl 170 gear especially cuz of the looks

A Famitsu interview in February pointed out that there won't be a new tier of scrips, just a new tier of Rowena's tokens. This means nothing will really change about weekly scrip capping. (still lvl 60 recipes, perhaps star-recipes with a higher red scrips gain), and makes me wonder if the cap will even be lifted.

Yoshida: We have no plans for that. If you were thinking of scrips along the lines of Allagan Tomestones, you might have expected "the next color" to come about, but in fact the current Rowena's token will fall in the middle; the red scrips were intended to remain by design.

Is this how adjustments will be made from now on?
Yoshida: When the level of crafter and gatherer equipment rises, the current Rowena's token will become an intermediate currency, red scrip and the current Rowena's token rates will be lowered, and a new Rowena's tokan will become the main exchange. Further carrying out high difficulty collection and production from there is the flow that leading players will want to keep up with.

Could see the favor mats increasing in yield, though I do hope they won't be included in 3* recipes. Never really liked the favor system.

It's a fair assessment. Craft/gather grind started extremely hardcore in 3.0/3.05, and gradually eased up since then with a few important changes/additions, but is still quite a steep climb.

I think patch 3.3 will iron this out very smoothly. First of all the new best gearset will be suitable for all classes, giving you only one crafter set to collect and meld up.
Second, a new method for obtaining crafting materia will be added (details on that coming in the patch preview live letters).
Third, just my assumption that the old IL 170/180 sets, no longer being the best, will become easier/faster to get to bridge the gap to the new all-class set.
Fourth, all the current IL 220 battle gear will be easier for people to make with this new DOH gear progression and removal of old specialist restrictions.

Ah, so there will be a new Rowena's Token, not scrips. Well I shouldn't be hoarding the Red Tokens haha. I've been making the tools with the 2* mats since there was no word on new Primary or Secondary Tools. I would like to see them bring back the Lucis Tools... maybe make the next tier an upgraded version of them

I'm not sure how useful the current red tokens will be, as the second answer does mention those becoming an "intermediate currency".
Whether that's simply to allow crafters who hoarded them to turn them into the new tokens (at say, 2/3 red tokens:1 new token, similar to the way new tomestones are handled, turning law into eso at 3:1)
Or if it'll become a convoluted system where a crafter uses red scrips to buy red tokens, which are then used to either buy the new tokens, or the current i170/i180 mats/gear.

    Hi Jade! ;D

So what I have been doing is getting my second Alt into HW, working on dynsth, red scrips, favors mat gathering, building a materia fleet, preparing stacks of HQ mats, MC/FC3s, and few other things. Making a lala battalion, the usual!

Favors are fine aside from Hinterlands BTN... Worst drop rates and that one Silkworm blocking the concealed node...

I do like the current 3 star stuff though... so easy to gather and craft for.

I dislike it but I think it's not necessarily the actual gathering part but everything else that goes into crafting. It's just like another step along a very long road. You know, gotta do the red scrips for gathering and crafting (with all that that entails.) Then gotta buy the favors and gather, and turn them in. Gotta get those legendary/normal items. Gotta make components and stuff to deconstruct for field 3. Gotta harvest RNG dependent aeth. All this before you can craft.

It feels very much like busy work and gold sink (because RNG and all that.) Most of the favor locations don't even have the side benefit of having stuff to sell on the MB. I think I'd be a lot more okay with it if there wasn't like a 1000 hoops we have to jump threw to craft. Sometimes it feels like all I do is farm. xD

I agree Alisi, some crafts are even worse than others. I hate weaving, for example, because you have to gather the mats, craft the thread, gather more mats to combine with the thread to make cloth, gather more mats to make an item that combines with the cloth to make yet another cloth... That's all before you even begin to start on the final item! Goldsmith is gather mats, make metal/gems, make final item. Obviously this is greatly simplified but shows how disparate the crafting classes can be & why certain crafts tend to be less popular.
