One thing I've heard is a pretty big problem for a lot of jobs (melee in particular) is the fact that it's very easy for them to lose their stacks if there's ever an instance where they're unable to keep hitting the boss (or something). Monks lose Greased Lightning, Dragoons lose Blood of the Dragon, and I'm sure there are and will be others.
What if Paladins had an ability they could use that would let their allies bash against their shield? Make it so the Paladin can be targeted for offensive abilities by allies for a set period of time, so that they can keep their buffs up and not have to lose out on the DPS they provide.
Just an idle musing on a Saturday afternoon. Might provide PLD with some unique raid utility, and give them the ability to help the group's damage out a bit for fights where the boss becomes untargetable.
