Oh dear this, Happens.Every.God.Damn.Time. on my bard. "Oh what's this, a flame circle?! Must be this boss ultimate ability, let's move! (can't be that bard flaming arrow for sure)" Not that the DPS from it is huge...but it helps.Recently, queued in as my SCH into Antitower.
I shield up, swap to cleric and start placing shadowflare as the tank runs to the mobs. He grabs them all and moves them just outside of shadowflare. I re-place it with swiftcast and continue.
Second pull, I do the same thing, start placing shadowflare, he grabs the adds and runs off with them pulling them out. Again replace.
This happens on the rest of the pulls to the first boss - at which point I ask "Why are you pulling them out of Shadowflare?" - "That was an accident." I just stay quiet but think, an accident on every pull?

When 3.0 first launched, I had tanks run out of Asylum all the time and it made me cry. Even now, I run into a tank on occasion who thinks its some enemy attack that is present in every dungeon and trial T.TUgh, I have tanks do this to me all the time! At least we can recast our shadow flares, imagine being a ninja and using doton. Some tanks have told me, "I thought it was a mob move," but most tanks are mover tanks. You tell them to hold still, but "I gotta dodge the AoEs." Poor poor melee.
Indeed! I also rely heavily on the slow effect of my Shadowflare to keep incoming damage down - so that I can DPS longer.

Been levelling my Machinist lately and queue for Stone Vigil after hitting 41. Got paired up with a Dark Night & White Mage who were levelling as well + a Ninja with crown.
Dungeon starts with the tank stating "Oh god, my gear" and that we might have to abandon this. I first just assumed that she forgot to repair it beforehand, but once I actually checked it... Let's just say that having full strength accessories was the lesser problem. Not a single piece of gear was actually for tanking, and there was even a DoM hat. Also as a bonus the healer was a bit undergeared as well.
We decided to push on anyway, and after wiping ~3 times or so in the first big room we found a rhythm of pulling away the mobs from the patrolling Avis to avoid being overwhelmed. We actually managed to make our way to the final boss pretty well, other than 2 close calls were the healer went OOM during trash pulls. We even did kind of a full run to get all the chests, which dropped a new pink staff for the healer as well as pants, belt & helmet for our tank.
Now for the last boss. I don't really know what I and the healer accidentally got hit by, but we were suddenly down to 10% health or so. Healer dies with me shortly after, and we wipe around 8% despite LB 2.
Second try goes better, as we work the boss down hoping to get the LB back fast enough. We almost have the boss down, when he takes off into the sky again at 1%... Only to die a few seconds later mid air from the DOT's on him.
Seeing that alone made that whole run worth it

It actually can happen because many people have party member effects turned off, and they just don't see that ground aoe from you. Turning effects off sometimes is necessary, because it makes easier to do some mechanics. I've turned off effects in t8 to better see that white tether, and keep them turned off since then because it makes game less flashy.Recently, queued in as my SCH into Antitower.

While I agree with this statement, I do think you will be fine setting the graphics to the middle setting for party members. This keeps all the flashy showy effects (Holy, Gravity, Fire IV, ect) off while keeping ones like Burning Arrow, Asylum, Shadow Flare, ect on. I personally have it set for full animations for myself, middle setting for PT members, and off for everyone else.It actually can happen because many people have party member effects turned off, and they just don't see that ground aoe from you. One time I did my leveling roulette, and I got copperbell mines. I ended up getting a tank with almost no gear who didn't even have any idea what tanking even was, and a DPS that just sorta did their own thing and walked through the dungeon on their own ignoring all the enemies and the whole party in general. Eventually the healer and I decided we weren't getting anywhere and decided that we would just go on our own with me sleeping all the mobs as a BLM and just duo the rest of the dungeon.
I also ended up saving a video of it on my PS4 for a few months and decided to upload it to youtube. its just the path to the end and the final boss, but you can get the image of just how much of a trainwreck it was.

I had a healer a couple of days ago that would cast assiez after all mobs had died, to heal everyone to full becore the next pull, even if it was the last group before a boss and we were already full.
It wasn't game breaking, it was just odd, to do nothing but waste a WHMs best spell.
