For the solo player on high level content I can actually eventually see them adding in NPCs as party members. But I'm sure there's way too much AI programming to focus on that now when there are larger issues to solve.

I'm not talking about solo vs group. You HAVE to group to get ifrit gear. I'm saying, casual players, who don't have a good Linkshell are effected.Equally beneficial for group and solo doesn't mean equal. If I'm play soloing and the game is as enjoyable as if I had the opportunity to play with a group I would say there's beneficial equality there. If SE only made group content and left a solo player with nothing to do then the game is not benefiting both segments. A solo player may never get all the things a hard core or group player can get but is enjoying the game in their own way. If the soloist got high enough as a solo playerand had time one day to form a group and get me some of the more exotic stuff then the game is balanced and working as intended. Equally beneficial does not mean equal everything. And I'm realistic as a gamer to understand if I never group up I may never get that uber item.
i don't see the correlation the OP makes between patch notes = never ending...prejudgments...and complaints.
The forums have always been like this (maybe its just the community O_o), I'm not too big on someone trying to come in and discredit a great service SE did for us, by giving us patch notes.
however i do agree with your main point people do need to chill out.

Elitist though seem to be very vocal...and like to speak for everyone. Just give me a fun game SE with a good story line to follow. I'm not picky about the particulars just want lots of stuff to do and choices. If the elitist can do any better then please go program your own game otherwise enjoy what the team gives you and you'all don't really know everything the team is planning on giving you down the line...Eh, don't sweat over the small stuff (elitists are a small percentage of players)
I do agree though I hope once the game gets rolling they slow down on the reveal of the goodies (that's for the .dat miners to figure out!) I feel now though SE has to do this to appease our appetite since the content is a slow roll because they are fixing the game.
I appreciate the patch notes...I just don't think they need to be that excruciating in detail. For instance they could have said x, y, z recipes have been added without revealing the recipe itself. Would you have lost anything if they didn't give you the actual recipe? I would conjecture to say you've gained knowledge of a recipe to make said item now you get the enjoyment of figuring out how to make it.i don't see the correlation the OP makes between patch notes = never ending...prejudgments...and complaints.

And my initial post is simply stating the fact that there's no pleasing everyone. SE is trying to do that and they really don't have to...they just need to head down the course of their action plan. There's fuel to the fire when you seemingly need to explain and justify what you are doing to a minority of people that don't seem to be happy whatever SE does anyways.
Yeah iv been saying "SE is trying to do that and they really don't have to...they just need to head down the course of their action plan" for a long time now. There is nothing wrong with forums or patch notes however i feel SE takes way to much out of the forums for development which are normally the "Funny pages" for normal development teams. I think part of this problem has been caused by the split community, and with a split community as such here there really is no pleasing everyone.I appreciate the patch notes...I just don't think they need to be that excruciating in detail. It's a bloody war out there...
Indeed.
What really annoys me is people going up in arms about a certain change without accounting for the fact that it may be due to five or six other changes rather than something on its own.
eg: Casters get over 2000HP and, like, OMG THAT'S UNHEARD OF ...but the entire trait points system and battle algorithm has been changed so the impact of this is yet to be experienced.
If you read the patch notes and don't like something, please don't rage straight away. Rather, observe, test once live, attain an evaluation based on actual experience and then share that experience in a calm and collected manner. Then people might take you more seriously.
Consider the patch notes as an opportunity to take a look at what you'll want to try out once the patch launches.
