It wouldn't devalue it because it would be an option opened only for people above a certain amount of minion (150 ?), which mean not that much people. And this amount could change along with the increasement of the number of minion.Since I've already opened the can of worms in another thread... No! People already have to pay a decent amount of money to obtain these items in the first place. SE shouldn't devalue their own merchandise strategy just because a few players can't go without a couple of minions or costumes.
So SE adding incentives to get people to purchase something is "destructive", but people willing to shell out $50 for a minion isn't? The things are "worthless". It's just a collector's fallacy.
Read what I wrote very carefully. This isn't about the minions, this about people who paid anywhere from $40-$60 USD and received an item that could be redeemed in the game. I don't speak for SE, but it seems pretty silly to alienate those customers knowing they're the ones who will buy the next plushie, or drop another $50 for an OST.
