I'm curious; we don't have this problem on most Japanese servers so I've never had to deal with the nightmare of a blacklist limit, but the other day someone was spamming about RMT (in English, hahaha) by Limsa Lominsa's MB. I reported them using the link about RMT in the first page of the support desk screen and I received a reply almost immediately advising that if I had blacklisted the person I could now remove them from my blacklist as they were being dealt with.

I don't know whether this meant they had been banned immediately or whether they'd just been muted (possibly without knowing) at S-E's end while they investigated, but it seems like a good alternative. It's a shame the reporting interface is really clunky, especially for console users. A streamlined reporting interface would make it so much easier.

Which is why we have a story mode and savage carries. I don't have a problem with gear being tradable and sellable either, I could not care less how someone else got their gear, it does not affect how I play or how much I enjoy the game in the slightest.

Face it, glamour isn't simple or unimportant to most players, otherwise they wouldn't be willing to go to the lengths they do in order to have their character look a certain way.
Face what, something I already said? I know people care about what they look like. What they don't care about is playing the way SE intended to, and that's on them to fix.

Even if expanding the blacklist isn't a cure, I think it's better than nothing and would be a nice option. I personally would rather blacklist dozen bots a day and so would a lot of people I have discussed this with. At least it's something.

Economics work exactly the same way in MMOs as they do in real life. Sellers set the price at the highest amount that buyers are willing to pay for that item. Just because you can't afford something doesn't mean it's overpriced by any means

No, economics work however SE want them to. If real life rules apply it's only because SE lets it happen.

Crafters make things. Crafters list things to the market. Other people buy those things. Crafters collect gil. What in here is not working as intended? I mean what, do you think we should all throw our craftables up on the market for dollar-store prices? Why would anyone do that given the time and effort it takes to level and gear crafters to the levels that are required to craft some of these items? Are you seriously advocating some kind of price fixing by SE here? What would that even accomplish? The free market works just fine and there's absolutely no reason for the devs to micromanage the economy.

If you want access to glamours when they're new and you aren't willing to pay the market board prices for them, then either get your crafters to 60 and get them geared or make friends with some crafters that will make items for you using your own materials.

Maybe if you weren't so caught up in explaining to me something I didn't ask you'd know that what I'm saying is that blaming RMT spam on buyers is pointless. People buy gil because SE made the intended way to get whatever people buy with RMT gil not worth the effort of actually doing. If you'd rather pay real money to get something in a game you already pay for, it really must not be fun... which, you know, is usually what games are for.

Don't underestimate the laziness of a person when it comes to getting something shiny they want. There are many people who find a game fun and still would be real money to get something in-game that, with a little work on their part, is completely obtainable.

RMT spam has more to do with the fact that some people are just plain lazy than anything SE has done on their side.

Gil isn't even hard to come by in this game if you at least put forth a token effort.
