Ok, that makes sense, I can't confirm on lodestone, but im sure I only have 17 wins out of 35+ matches in solo Q. I can check the achievement but the majority of 43 wins would be from 8v8.Reaching bronze basically just comes down to a battle of persistence. You spam it enough and you eventually will get the 20 wins you need to reach bronze since you can't lose points while unranked. That's why reaching bronze is nothing special actually. I have been stuck on bronze hovering between 800 and 1k points for a few days now unable to break through to silver which is the first real accomplishment in rank matches. My win rate is only 56% though as I queue as dragoon as opposed to healer.
Player
XIVPVP does keep track of some of the feast matches but only if someone in the lobby was running the client. I personally didn't wanna download the client which is why if u go to my page on there it'll only say I've participated in maybe only like 10 matches when I've actually been in over 70 thus far. But anyway now that I think about it my rank points are not a multiple of 25. Meaning I haven't been consistently losing 25 points in losses. So maybe you do lose points if opponent is same rank as you and you lose less points if they are higher ranked. Only thing I could think of to explain that but idk.
8 vs 8 is fun, certainly, but the clusterf*ck of things happening on the screen takes away from it a bit. There's a ridiculous amount of floating text and far less emphasis on actually doing your job or playing tactically. Most people just jump the nearest target and go crazy, regardless of what their job is or if it's the smart thing to do.
By comparison, 4 vs 4 feels tighter and has a stronger emphasis on actual player skill. That emphasis makes the rounds much more intimidating to get into, but winning is far more satisfying.
I find the gameplay in 8v8 is more in tune with what happens when two full parties meet in Frontlines.8 vs 8 is fun, certainly, but the clusterf*ck of things happening on the screen takes away from it a bit. Also, getting rid of target lines, and filtering out certain floating texts would alleviate the fireworks, did for me.
I only see my damage numbers, and all status effects no matter the source, it cleans up the screen immensely.
Exactly. It felt a little too similar to Frontlines to me. I even played an 8 vs 8 match in which both teams completely ignored the medal drops. My team won because I took the time to actually walk around the map and collect all the crap everyone else was ignoring, including the enemy. Don't get me wrong, FL is fun and all, but it can be a little too mindless at times. For players who just like to "Kill! Kill! Kill!" and nothing else, it's fine. When I'm in that mood, then 8 vs 8 is where it's at. Any other time, though, and 4 vs 4 is more satisfying, because I actually feel like I worked for my kills and wins in 4 vs 4.
I considered doing this as well, but I opted against it because I like seeing these things during raids and trials. I might still do it though. The more I play, the more I find I'd prefer a streamlined display ... I just have to get over my paranoia of irreparably screwing up my UI settings. If there's a way to break my system config, I'm sure I'd find it. I'm techno talented like that.
If I was home, I'd be able to copy the macro I use, but I'm at work, hence why I'm on the forums xD. They're all under the realm of /hud, anyway I agree as a tank the full text is necessary for raids, so I just have the macro in menu to execute when I know I'm doing pvp for a bit, then just turn it off again for PVE content.
I'll post it for Ya when I can.
I think that's what it may be. I've been stuck around the 700's-800's and am currently at 781. Sometimes I will win an only gain 24, sometimes I lose 26.
8v8 just more action
I like how 4v4 plays more but I enjoy 8v8 more because I can duo it with my friend. Solo 4's is just kind of boring and stressful after a while, especially with the way rating goes.
Truth. My GF and I both went in as Ranged classes. Her on SMN. Me on BRD. We coordinated our burst together, and obliterated the enemy team, one player at a time. Meanwhile, the derps in our party still managed to find some way to die horribly, usually out of LoS of the healers...
