It's good enough to keep me distracted for a while. Have to hope something new is out by the time I finish my first lorestone set.

I think the best patch was the one that revamped warrior. It showed that the people running this game have the power to rework a job and gives me hope whenever I see a job lagging behind in a few areas.

    (taken from another forum)

Brutal Swing - Recast time will be reduced from 30 to 20 seconds, increasing the frequency with which players can stun foes.
Overpower - Enmity generated by this skill has been increased.
Storm's Eye - TP cost will be reduced from 70 to 60.
Storm's Path - TP cost will be reduced from 90 to 60. - This skill will also reduce damage dealt by enemies for a period of time.
Holmgang - Range will be increased from 3 yalms to 6, to make the skill more effective. - This skill will now pull enemies toward your character. - When using this skill, a player's HP cannot be reduced lower than 1. - The animation for this skill will be revised. (See screenshot above)
Vengeance - This skill will also reduce damage taken by 30%.
Mercy Stroke - Recast time will be reduced from 60 to 40 seconds, improving ease of use.
Thrill of Battle - Effect duration will be extended from 10 to 20 seconds.
    Warrior Changes
Defiance - Enmity generated by this skill will be increased. - This skill will also increase HP recovery via curing magic by 20%.
Wrath - The improved healing effect granted by Wrath will be removed. Instead, the improved healing effect will be granted by Defiance.
Inner Beast - Due to overall balance changes, HP absorbed by damage dealt will be reduced from 300% to 100% - Damage taken will be reduced by 20% for 6 seconds.
Steel Cyclone - This skill will generate increased enmity.
Unchained - Recast time will be reduced from 180 to 120 seconds, improving ease of use. The main focus of these changes—as the seasoned warriors among you have already observed— was Inner Beast and its HP absorption effect. With these changes, warriors will no longer be dependent on a single skill to recover HP, and have overall improved defense.
To put it simply, we want to ensure the role of warriors as durable tanks. This is why we've also adjusted the effects of Wrath and Defiance. As currently implemented, warriors are forced to lose their healing bonus when using certain skills. However, these changes will allow players to use their warrior skills without sacrificing improved healing, and also maintain the critical hit bonus of Wrath.
Although warrior will no longer recover immense amounts of HP in a single use of Inner Beast, these changes should improve the overall defensive capability of warriors and the ability to heal them using a support class or job.

    ---

Before these changes, playing as a warrior was a pain. They didn't get the automatic healing bonus to their stance and instead had to hold onto wrath stacks for it ( I think it was 5% bonus healing per stack) and also innerbeast healed for a lot more health but didn't have the 6 second defense boost like we do today, plus using it would make you lose your healing bonus ( since it costs all your stacks.) I think overpower still had the "windup" part of the animation (like when npc's do it) too.

I think the era before the WAR buffs are what promoted the idea that PLD= main tank and WAR= off tank, as well as the idea that wars are a great deal harder to heal than PLD which persists to this day.

You don't see Elysium's tanks in full VIT in savage pre 3.2 for a reason.

Now for tank gear being redundant, maybe if they did something with parry you would have an argument but "tank gear" was useless in pre 3.2. SE needs to stop being lazy and do something with parry.
Except that is markedly untrue. Prior to 3.2, Fending gear was objectively inferior to progression raiding. This meant not only was gear specifically designed for tanks being left on the floor, it put three whole jobs at odds with melee DPS. Sure, they could (and should) fix Parry, but that doesn't change the fact STR tanking was never intended to be a thing. It would again mean having a whole stat (VIT) be ignored by a large portion of the community. In progression content, many VIT tanks were looked down on because STR was simply better. What you're demanding is, ironically, SE be lazy and ignore all the aforementioned because you're unwilling to adjust to slightly lower DPS.

It blows my mind that people believe the MSQ was lacking after the massive let down that was 3.1. It's almost like you don't have eyes. The Brawl, Antitower, finding Minfilia? Compared to what? 6 quests in 3.1 which only had one half decent cutscene where the Warriors of Darkness kicked your arse while you sat and gaped liked a moron.

    Ha.

I liked this patch alot, the main storyline was alot longer then 3.1 which is a length that they should keep for 3.3 and beyond. I am disappoineed with the Hildibrand sidequest, it was only 2 quests and I finished it under 15 minutes, which is very very very short for a Hildibrand questline.

I don't know, they didn't bother to update diadem. We also did not get any unique content as was promised (again) for removing a dungeon. It feels like same patch reskinned.

In 3.1 my FC did diadem a lot which was super fun, and a buncha other stuff..oh, relic...even though that was also reskinned content. Then 3.2 comes along and it just feels like I am doing the same thing yet again. The materia is def a step in the right direction...but something is lacking. There is no mid core content really, still no open world FC content...I dunno anymore. I may also return to Vanadiel for a while or just...well, outside life lol.

agreed, I just wish they had re-worked stats to coincide with this. There isn't a lot of customization possibilities right now with the stat choices available

Personally, I felt 3.2 was a strong patch overall.
    • While the new dungeons themselves are lackluster mechanically, the atmosphere and music was incredible and I enjoy going through them for that.
    • The Midas (normal) raids feel good. They provide enough challenge where they aren't a pushover while still keeping it very entry level. A much better tier compared to Gordias.
    • I can appreciate that tank busters now hit appropriately for a full VIT-HP tank.
    • The gear reward structure felt right. We got different ways to get i220, i230, and i240 pieces and the pacing to acquire these pieces feel appropriate.
    • I enjoyed the 3.2 story quite a lot compared to 3.1 and there's a feel of epicness to it compared to the previous story arc.
    • Options to meld Materia on a lot of pieces of gear revitalized the Materia scene. Kudos to the team for having the foresight to include various avenues of Materia (T4 and T5) acquisition to assist the market in this endeavor.

The big complaint I have (and it's made me lose confidence in Yoshi-P and his Dev team from a balancing standpoint) are two balance changes:
    • The VIT/STR tank change. I agree that it had to happen but I felt the implementation was half-baked. You can still make (albeit weak) argument that certain STR accessories are better than their VIT counterparts (you should still use VIT for the HP due to tank buster reason above) but by making it 0.45 STR / VIT they've reduce the power of tank's left side by approx 10% and the tank's right side (if running STR) by a rather absurd 55%. I guess the counter argument would be it boosted VIT tanks right side up by 45%. Still, it feels... far too heavy handed for my liking.
    • The Luminious Aether change to AST made me cringe and puts me to the point where I don't do any healing in random DF PuGs unless I'm on AST because AST's wipe recovery potential is just that off the charts now.

TLDR: Overall, very good patch, but lost confidence in those who do balancing due to specific changes.

This comment irks me because it is completely not the same thing. No other class had the option to swap accessories like tanks did. If a DRG/BRD/Caster wore VIT accessories (outside of maybe PVP) they would be shunned or if any DPS decided to use an accessory that wasn't their jobs main stat. All classes had the option to meld crafted accessories and they still do but now tanks need to depend on their main stat just like every other class needs to.
