How you chose your healing job.

My current healing main is SCH. I picked it because I've done quite a bit of healing in other games and the pet angle seemed unique & fresh. I've been enjoying it. It feels pretty dynamic even if I trust the fairy less than I probably should. I love the huge toolbox the class has. SCH is the first class I've played in any game that feels like it has no holes whatsoever in the kit. I am going to try the other healers, probably WHM next but I doubt I'll like them more than SCH. (though if I do it'll say volumes positive about class design in this game)

I started playing the game after 3.0 was released with the intent to play and main Astrologian, i just loved the looks, the lore and everything about it (and astromancy is tight af). Also, arcana and tarots are part of its toolkit and they're another thing i found pretty cool. Basically it's a mix of all types of magic i like: Astromancy, time magic and tarots.

I played 2.0 content with SCH and it's currently my secondary healer, i chose it over WHM because fairies.

Mained WHM before HW because imo SCH was not for me. Then when HW released I started maining AST because I loved everything about it (generally more interested in buffing and support than pure healing). And now with 3.2 I find myself basically maining SCH, partly because I was forced into it in Sephi Ex (too many AST/WHM out there) and partly because I befriended an AST who wants me to be his co-healer for everything. Don't really mind it, I started enjoying SCH much more in HW, just kinda funny how I got "pressured" into it.

I knew I wanted to be a healer, and since I love white magic and always choose the traditional cane-wielding priest type in the RPGs I play, WHM seemed the natural choice. I ended up adoring the play style, and it's still my main even now. There's nothing like popping DS and effortlessly healing through heavy damage phases with a Medica or two and Assize (ye gods I love that ability.) I much prefer actively healing to mitigation.

Also, the WHM kit feels quite similar to playing Aerith in VII at times, who is one of my favourites both to play and as a character. I like that our LB3 is named after hers.

I'm going to give AST a whirl on my alt soon too (because astronomy), though I'm a bit paranoid about becoming the "god awful Au Ra AST" stereotype...

I leveled all three healers because I main healer and variety is the spice of life. If I would consider which healer I main it would most certainly be WHM as that was my main (and only) class in XI. Unfortunately, I tend to go to AST for most content now as it gives me copious amounts of MP so I can fix any terrible DF PuG derps that I might such as this story..

Could you tell me about this stereotype? I've never heard of it.

It's probably not a game-wide stereotype, I've just noticed on my data centre that a lot of the girl Au Ra ASTs are really bad (and usually have an attitude to match.) I always get the feeling they're in it more for the look/ glamour than actually playing it well. They're like the female counterpart to the Xaela DRK guys.

I originally chose WHM because it's the most effectively healing healer. I'm thinking I'll go for SCH instead, because it's the most versatile support caster. And, also, I can pretty much let the Fairy do the heavy lifting for me.

When I decided to choose Sch as my main I was actually kind of anxious about healing with a pet. I chose the class because I am a huge fan of books as a weapon, and often chose those characters/jobs in other FF games. In the end it was thankfully a perfect fit, and I'll stick with Lily \o/
