How you chose your healing job.

Well the original reason why my first healing job was sch was because you can get it when your arcanist is level 30 in addition to smn. It was like 2 birds with one stone, still maining both smn and sch today . ( And to those who say I can't main both" pulls out a Keeper's Hyme" this says otherwise)

New poster and player so I don't have sch/whm/ast unlocked yet, but I can explain why I chose the path of healer, and the direction I am going.

I'm the type that does all kinds of homework on an MMO both before getting into it, as well as during my adventures. Scholar appealed to me right away due to my love of rdm days of old on FFXI (a very busy, multi-tasked job). I learned that your arcanist starts off as DPS and then becomes a true healer later on. So I told myself there was NO WAY I am going to hit level 30 and all of s sudden have to heal parties with no experience under my belt. So I decided to level CNJ as well.

Well, guess what happened? Yup, I fell in love with Conjurer! I am about to unlock both sch and whm and will play both to the best of my ability. I really like what each brings to the table, and we will see if I start to tip towards one or the other as I progress.

I started as an arcanist (a trend among my friends, apparently) and went Summoner until maybe about level 40. Then I participated in a particularly uncoordinated boss FATE with no healers. I threw rezzes left right and center, kept others on their feet as much as possible, and copped so much hate from the mobs that I was basically solo-kite-tanking the whole thing. We succeeded with about a minute left on the clock, a bunch of people stayed behind to thank me afterwards, I decided to look into Scholarship and I've never looked back.

Yup, I fell in love with Conjurer! I am about to unlock both sch and whm and will play both to the best of my ability. I really like what each brings to the table, and we will see if I start to tip towards one or the other as I progress.

It really only gets better. Scholar is actually a lot of fun for healers tired of staring at hp bars all day. WHM doesn't really come in to its own until lv.40 and 45, when you get Regen and Holy. At that point, you will really be able to tell whether you prefer SCH or WHM.

Slight correction: you get Regen at 35, not 40. And thank heavens for that.

As a new player to this game and playing healers in multiple other MMO's, I felt like the white mage will be my favorite healer. The toolkit looks nice. I might try the other 2 healers at a later time to see how they feel, so far (level 23) the toolkit is lacking somewhat. That should fix itself with leveling.

Personally, I love the stars. I love anything that has to do with space. So as soon as I seen "Astro" I knew it was going to be a class I'll love. I'm happy to say that I was right.

I started healing as a CNJ because regen style healing was familiar to me after playing Druid in WoW. White mage gear sets and weapons look nice and the spells are flashy so that's a nice bonus. The class is a bit simplistic though so I was getting bored of it around the beginning of Heavensward. Then I tried AST and fell in love with the job. It plays like a WHM but faster and comes with added utility and flexibility. Druids are a hybrid class so it felt nice going back to how I started MMO healing. Another similarity to druids are the star themed abilities. AST even has an loose equivalent to druids' Tranquility spell - a strong channeled raid saving cooldown with a beautiful animation. Having my own mini-healer-LB for desperate times is a big part of my healer fantasy, kind of like how some dps enjoy big crits or some tanks enjoy being an indomitable protector of the group.

Oh I hope it gets better! Because I haven't done much healing. Been through the first three dungeons, bowl of embers, and Halatali without using medica once. All I've done is dps and toss the tank a cure when he gets to 50-60%, which tops him off. So I'm looking forward to things getting interesting.

I honestly care about everyone else's experience more than my own. If they are happy, I am happy, which pretty much makes me a born healer.

Scholar appeals to me in an entirely different way and I fully understand that it still takes time after hitting 30 to come into its own, which is fine as I need time to become proficient with each new ability or spell. But if I was a mob, I would REALLY hate seeing a sch in a group of adventures coming to kick my butt!

I kinda hopped on scholar because I liked the idea of a pet healing job. Took it to 50 back in 2.0, and kinda let it sit there and collect dust due to most teams wanting me on tank.

Now with 3.2 I'm gonna get the opportunity to main heal! I'm super excited to have scholar getting geared up and to head into some raids!
