If the devs really want healers to heal only in raids, disable cleric stance in raids and use the extra time healers may have when not healing for other mechanics. It could make raids even more interesting.
I would like to do more healing in raids. DPS'ing in dungeons is fine, but in raids I'd rather have more consistent damage or something like needing to manage mana (it's not very difficult right now). However, in order for healers to "heal more," SE would need to change their boss mechanics and healer dynamic.

Bosses work in peaks and valleys (little to no damage for a while, spike on tank, little to no damage, spike on raid, little to no damage, etc), so in all the valleys, both healers DPS. Since the peaks vary, sometimes both healers heal, but most of the time just one is needed. SE would have to make raid damage high enough (or heals low enough) to necessitate 2 healers instead of 1.5, otherwise the meta of 1 healer + SCH fairy will remain; SCH is essentially a full on hybrid class.

I'm not sure about Midas as a whole, but A5S follows the peak/valley/1.5 healer formula; there really aren't that many or that intense healer checks (unless the raid derps). This means more healer DPS.

Sephirot EX is similar; the healing requirements are still quite low, but I think the mechanics of the fight are a bit better. In phase 2, while those Aura debuffs are out all the way up until earth shakers, there is no damage, so it's full on DPS mode for the entire group. However, the time in between those moments has rather consistent damage going out. It still only needs one healer, but the concept is there, at least.

A20: While the feature can be implemented, it’s currently masked. It’s currently masked because we would like to prevent players from harassing each other just because they know they would never party together in the future. We will continue to monitor the situation carefully as we move forward.

in phase 3 you mean? Also the healing requirements are pretty damn heavy everywhere else in the fight, especially phase 1 and then after storm of words comes up in phase 3.

The thing with that fight, is the damage is incredibly predictable, so it's easy to time your DPS in at appropriate points.

There are also no dps checks until the 3rd phase so if I do bother to dps at all in phase 1 it's an aero here or there, maybe a couple of stone 3s if I'm feeling lucky. Other then that I wait for phase 3 to really start trying with dps now.

Edit I guess there's a small one in phase 2 but the dps themselves are more then capable of handling the adds and you actually have to be careful not to kill them too fast either so yeah I just hold off till phase 3.

DPS Check or not, you can make your and the tank jobs easier by DPSing and help pushing to skip extra TB's etc.

As I mentioned, it's not hard to fit in, as the damage is very predictable. If it was hard to fit in, then I'd be the same and just take it cautiously.

Honestly though it makes me a little irked and want to stop dpsing. Even though I dps I don't believe in any form that healers HAVE to dps. Half the time I dps in the first place is cause dps is lazy themselves and I want to end the dungeon quickly. Im not understanding why tanks and healers are constantly being questioned but never dps.
Heh wow, no one has ever actually verbally acknowledged my DPSing on my SCH. In fact, I often find I am more likely to get commendations if I don't DPS and I just sit around and heal once in awhile.

Yep. I fat fingered 2. Either way, healing the Seph EX fight is pretty easy, unless your DPS kill everyone on adds I guess.
