I get it, the GM is actually Mog's cousin. Mog just calls the GM and he gets online ~

We just had the GM reporter on our corner in uldah on rabanastre

Kipih Jakkya: Well met, adventurers! I'm Kipih Jakkya, a reporter in the employ of the Raven!
Kipih Jakkya:waves.
You strike a pose for Kipih Jakkya.
You wave to Kipih Jakkya.
Kipih Jakkya:waves to you.
King Zeus: hello
Xavier Star waves to Kipih Jakkya.
Kipih Jakkya: Hello there! I don't suppose you would be willing to help me out with a bit of information?
Kipih Jakkya:waves to Xavier Star.
King Zeus: sure
Kipih Jakkya: Thank you! Have you heard of any rumors recently? Anything will do!
Xavier Star: It was King Zeus, in the chocobo stables, with a fishing pole.
King Zeus: yes, no new fish being added!
King Zeus: tons of new items and recipie changes
Kipih Jakkya: What odd things you say. What of the Imperials?
King Zeus: we aren't scared of them. our team is better than them
Kipih Jakkya: Oh, indeed! Aren't you the brave one! Have you met them on the front?
King Zeus: yes, in gridania area
Kipih Jakkya: Truly?! How did you fare?
King Zeus: i one shot all of them
King Zeus: need to make them harder
Kipih Jakkya: Perhaps they do lack training! I would think they are not sending their best of course. Perhaps they plan on sending even stronger adversaries!
Xavier Star: I hope so.
King Zeus: they better! we are ready
Kipih Jakkya: Will you be prepared?
King Zeus: i'm ready now.
King Zeus: bring it on
Kipih Jakkya: THat is good to hear!
Kipih Jakkya:cheers you on!
You strike a pose.
Kipih Jakkya: Perhaps that would make for an interesting article!
Kipih Jakkya: The Imperials come: Are we ready for the attack!
King Zeus: Our whole team is ready right now. We'll destroy them easy.
Xavier Star: You can come with us and watch.
Malachi Andresus: less than 24 hours to clear the new tasks easy day
Kipih Jakkya: That does sound intruiging. Although, I would rather stand to the back. A pen does little damage.
Xavier Star: The pen is mightier than the sword~
King Zeus: you can poke ifrits eyes out
Kipih Jakkya:looks at you in shock!
Malachi Andresus: does Ifrit give out autographs too?
You let out a cheer.
Kipih Jakkya: I would think he is too busy devastating their enemies to give an autogragh.
Xavier Star: Do you think Ifrit is friend or foe Kipih?
Kipih Jakkya: That is difficult to say. The beastmen are hard to read.
Kipih Jakkya: What is your opinion?
King Zeus: they are hard to read cause they are too easy to kill lul
Kipih Jakkya: Indeed, you are a bold one!
Xavier Star: The enemy of your enemy is your friend. Imperials want the beastman gods dead.
Kipih Jakkya: Oh deary me, I'm afraid I've lingered overlong. I must make haste, lest I be late for my appointment.
You bow courteously to Kipih Jakkya.
Kipih Jakkya: When next we meet, I expect to hear more titillating tales of your adventures!
King Zeus: Take care.
Xavier Star bids farewell to Kipih Jakkya.
Kipih Jakkya: Till then, may the Fury grant you strength!
Malachi Andresus waves to Kipih Jakkya.
Kipih Jakkya:bids farewell.

I love how everyone stands there staring at her for ages then a Lalafell runs over and pokes her in the leg XDAnother encounter just now with Kipih, (The reporter for the Raven)
Kipih has come bearing news that the blight on the chocobos has begun to lift.
Video of the encounter:

"Poke it! Make sure it's real!"
Yeah yeah, it's great GMs are doing this but come on...
Not everyone is going to be able to meet these, it's a little unfair.
This is just them copping out of putting in a quest which tells how the chocobo blight suddenly vanished so that all players can experience it through cutscenes.
Seeing them cutting corners on this sort of thing (including lodestone lore posts) is getting a little bit annoying.

It's better than having an automated "ask jeeves" NPC standing around giving the same responses to questions all day longYeah yeah, it's great GMs are doing this but come on...

Err, not really, no.
I said cutscenes.
Putting story and lore in to a cutscene makes the experience a lot more personal for each person who plays the game. Cutscenes are important.
I'd consider it quite a personal experience to roleplay with a GM, I mean... that's not scripted, and it's not something everyone will experience when they reach a certain level. It would be nice if we had some kind of warning though, but then Ul'dahs streets would become absolutely jam-packed and the chat log would go crazy whenever a GM appeared if we knew they were coming.
It looks nice but it's still poorly thought out.I'd consider it quite a personal experience to roleplay with a GM, I mean... that's not scripted, and it's not something everyone will experience when they reach a certain level. Why take away such an experience from 99% of the players of this game just so the 1% can have some fun? (and yes I realise this is an exaggeration considering the size of the game's population right now but you get the point, only a small amount of people get to see these special GMs)
Surely it would make more sense to have things like this in questlines with cutscenes, right?
Well if they continue to do this for the duration of the games life then at some point players are gonna meet a GM, except for those who don't spend a lot of time in Ul'dah of course (like me)
I seriously hope they stop doing this and simply use quests/cutscenes as a way of telling story and the goings on of the game's world, because this is just the same as locking players out of game content. No one likes players being left out of particular game content, right?
So why is this OK?
However, this wouldn't be so much of a problem if there were quests implemented for these particular scenarios, with GMs popping up here and there as they do, as this would give everyone a chance.
