It depends what you're after in this game, really.

If you're looking to do end game Savage raids then you would probably ought to look for at least a static to join or form.

Since lore capping and casual runs on Normal raids can be done easily via DF and on your own leisure, it would be great to have some friends to not only speed up que times but also add in some social aspect into the game to keep you from getting even more bored from having no one to talk to.

As for crafting and gathering stuff, I think having friends is amazing and really beneficial. Sometimes it's really great how you guys can help one another whether or not if its from one crafter to another crafter or a non-crafter helping out a crafter gathering certain mats from EX primals/raid drops and vice versa as the crafter helps the non-crafter to craft the mats out.

It can net you not only a number friends but if you're lucky, someone who is willing to help you craft stuff for you too (provided you at least try your best in gathering the mats and not ask for it for free to be handed over to you on a silver platter)

All of this is naught but an opinion of mine.

In my humble opinion, for normal raids. I tend to watch video guides and look up for some tips/hints before attempting the raid. Normal raids are a lot more easier than savage raids in general hence the term "savage" for savage raids.

Learning and practicing in normal is one thing, savage tends to be quite demanding from the full party of 8 members be it gearing up (having a certain ilvl + materia melding), being great in your role/job mechanics etc.

Savage mode also requires willingness to improve via progression, teamwork, coordination and minimal mistakes that can be made as the mistakes are a lot more punishing than in normal raids. For savage, it requires commitment from not only you but the rest of your static members as well.

To join a static however, you probably want to get the rough idea of raiding first then look for static raiders who are recruiting and tell them exactly how much experience you have (do not lie about it, tell the truth) and work your way around.

Despite I have said quite a number of things, I do not have a static group nor do I participate in savage raids. I don't have fixed online hours and therefore I don't think I can commit to logging on at X time and raiding for Y hours every Z days of the week.
