Sorry if I didnt make it clear; I know jobs in XIV will differ quite alot from how they where in XI, the issue I have is that I wish that wasn't as much the case, I'd love a compromise between the 2 systems.

Keep the jobs to their parent class as a party spec, but allow us to level them up from say rank 30 to 50.
I can't see how anyone would'nt want to play the jobs leveling them up once unlocked.

it will be like this only thing is we if you already got a class to 50 the job it unlock will be 50, so say your lvling a new class you hit 30 you go unlock the job for it, now you can lvl that class as a job from 30-50 if you want or you can just play it as a class.

And that is the issue, having all jobs at 50 = nothing new to level, aka the jobs adds no new content for thoose people.
Having jobs level seperatly but start at 30 would solve that.

I think a lot of people are thinking of "jobs" in the FFXI sense. You gotta forget what you know. The advanced jobs here are not going to be quite the same.

Well if they don't want them to be considered 'Advanced classes' as they say they aren't, then they probably shouldn't mimic the rank of the class that unlocks them. All that does is make them advanced classes.

I disagree with a few of your opinions, but unlike most posts I can't refute much of it. There isn't so much logic to refute as there are opinions that we don't share, so I'd just like to state mine for the record.

I agree that experiencing your roles is the true "meat" of an MMO, but I feel that experience is growing and acclimating into a proficient play-style within that job. Sure, that may be accomplished by time spent playing it, but repetitive grinds focused on simply gaining experience don't do that for me at all.

I feel that "The Grind" should be exactly as long as it takes to learn to play your job, no longer. Experiencing the job itself is best done (in my opinion) by taking your proficiency earned through mindless grinding and putting it to the test against actual content that requires skill, critical thinking, and experimentation. You don't get any of that with a grind party - and thus, in my opinion, are in fact not experiencing your job at all.

Adding a longer grind by implementing levels on jobs would dampen my experience heavily within the game. If anything, I would prefer the trials.

The ideal progression for me would require a large number of development trials to supplement the deca-level main -- they would be very much like grinding in that they would require getting a party together and defeating mobs - but they'd be more like assault missions; a quick storm of mobs that requires you to plan, act, and succeed while adapting to the situation.

In this way, people could experience other people's roles and still develop their own. Party members could take turns doing each other's trials with everyone gaining experience and/or currencies/points/whathaveyou. This would keep it fresh and interesting instead of repetitive, but still require people to go out, socialize, and grind - except with better focus, more goal oriented rewards, and more critical thinking on the part of doing their job in various different ways.

I don't think leveling is fun.

Oh goodie, after I level up my 80 million (obvious exaggeration, but with even more classes coming...) classes I get to level specialized versions of them all over again doing the same exact things and killing the same mobs!? In the same areas!? Oh boy! Lol no thanks, while I do consider myself to be a bit of a masochist at times, this, is just too much.

As mentioned earlier, I don't think you realize that jobs are simply specializations. Besides, they get their own unique quests to unlock abilities.

Uh no most people I seen in the game aren't level 50, it is no way fast to level.

I think we should get 1 detail on the jobs before we ask them to change it. right now we know so little that its pretty silly to tell them to change it.
