'Expect whatever is coming for them'? Really?! Rage fits, insults, and no tolerance/understanding should not be coming from anyone ever in any group! If you have a group that happens to be failing, you go through what you know and try to clear the content. If you have a bad temper, leave, and spare everyone your horrible 15-year-old attitude. That is the entire point. If you have nothing nice to say, or no patience for the players, then just shut up and leave. No one is attacking you here either. Asking an 'obvious question' is normally called a rhetorical question, a question to challenge your POV.

We wiped multiple times. Twice we got the boss to 1% then healers died, people went to jail, and we wiped again. I think the worst part was five of them were in TS together and it was still coordinated very poorly. I'm used to running this with my team and even then wipes happen but about an hour on just M3 was frustrating and exhausting.
Don't worry I had wiped 6 times on it before we decided to disband. Then when we got in there again, a tank dc'd and we 7-manned it. It happens.

I absolutely despise this mentality that someone should be forced to "watch a video" before going into a new dungeon or trial. And then on top of that, you go on to say that if people don't prepare by watching a video, then they deserve to be talked down to, insulted, raged at, screamed at? Are you kidding me???

If I have to watch a video to prepare for every encounter in the game ... why even play at all? May as well save my subscription money and just watch Youtube when I wonder what's going on back on Eorzea.

Not that I think it's nessasary to watch videos for dungeons, but with the logic you applied here, there is no point in running dungeons more than once either.

    1. No one deserves to be talked down to or raged at. Not those that do watch videos nor those who don't. We are adults, act like it.

    2. No one has to watch a video for anything. No dungeon requires a video nor does any df trial. However joining anything in PF without watching a video unless it is specified is completely rude.

    3. While the above point is true, for extreme trails you are essentially setting yourself up for failure in not watching a quick guide. Do you 100% have to? No of course not, but don't be surprised if people kick you if after the first few wipes you are holding the party back.

So, I was one 60 roul, one ex roul and the Vath Quests away from getting my slipstream breeches... Okay, no biggie, so I queue for 60 roul as astrologian. I enjoy part time healing, but I am just that; a part-time healer.

Get a paladin, a black mage, a bard. Blm immediately says something about the tank tanking being unusual. My internal alarm sirens go off, but I ignore them. "It's just Pharos HM, it can't be that bad."
Paladin has 18k hp, blm almost 15k. Meh, maybe pld isn't geared that well...
Nope. Pld is wearing str accs. Pld also proceeds to PULL EVERYTHING. EVERYTHING. I'm a part-time healer, and I've had my friends do it, so I know what to expect but... They were projectile-vomitting hp, as opposed to my friends. Even though they used cooldowns from what little I saw...

Now, I'm on ps4. On controller. I was basically hitting buttons faster than when I do my drg rotation, I was sweating buckets, and pld never once stopped before a pull to let me stoneskin people. I went into the first boss with 6k mp (thankfully lumi is just my panic button when im at 4k mp, so I hit it when it came to that). Right after the first boss they pull ALL. To the bomb thing. Mercifully they stopped and waited until most kobolds were dead before they pulled the rest down, but geez....
I couldn't do as much as BLINK and they'd be down to half their hp during most pulls. Now, I'm a healer who enjoys dpsing even in critical situations but I literally couldn't do more than hit my heals and pray. I don't think I ever had to use lightspeed in a trash pull to keep the tank alive!

The point where my nerves almost burned out was when I slapped synastry on them... 3 seconds later they used hg. Yeah thanks, I just wasted my best cooldown, thanks.

I got to draw maybe 7 cards the entire run because I was left to deal with mechanics (which I'm fine with... although those blue bombs make me cry internally).
It took 17 minutes, which is the fastest I ever went in a Pharos HM with an entire pug but... jesus christ... please let me breathe a little... just an itsy bitsy little... Or let me stoneskin people, I could barely stoneskin them even with swiftcast, that's how fast they were outta my sight!

As for the new to stuff and watching videos stuff. When I was new to the game I was so utterly terrified of doing duties with people that I looked up guides and everything beforehand. I knew the strats but failed spectacularly because a video does not equal the real experience.

I get watching a video is good but honestly. I'd rather have a party full of people going in blind that take advice than a group full of people who watched videos and read up strats that get snappy when it doesn't work. All of which I've had in that year I've been playing now :v
But demanding that people watch videos? No. Hell no. If there's the someone new to duty message my wiping tolerance automatically becomes much higher than when I'm with clearly experienced people who slack. It's just a game, lighten up people.

Going in blind in content is perfectly fine. It's duty finder, for christ's sake. Be glad it's just someone who went blind into content as opposed to the black mage in hq crafting stuff that used fire until they ran out of mp, then did nothing waiting for their mp to regen like my fc mate got today :v

I didn't say that. Please calm down, like I told you, I'm not against new players seeking help. If there will be any moments where someone get insulted, I'll step up and defend that person. It's not a sin to watch videos, nor it's a crime to be completely clueless. I never claimed you must watch it, I said you should watch it (softly in my mind), because anything could happen to you. Maybe wipe, maybe something else. But don't assume that I'm supporting rage quits etc. It's really wise to research, that is all. At some point, maybe in raids, you can't expect everyone to stop and explain you everything, I would.. but we are all different. And it's possible to prevent any drama.

I want to add to that a bit, as I've been farming Ravana for birb lately. I tank, heal, and dps. I take my time to help players who are new, or just indicate they need help with something I'm able to help with. In both PF and DF lately we've gotten new players. And they never say anything, and we wipe, and I ask who's new, and no one speaks up. Maybe because they're afraid they will be kicked. But after a run or two it's really obvious if you don't know the mechanics. So if you don't own up and ask for clarification on something you don't know, you'd better be watching a video before you go in, or it is a waste of everyone's time, including yours.

For most duties, even with new content, if you have a decent proficiency in your job and basic familiarity with general game mechanics, you should be okay. But if anyone rages over having to explain a new mechanic that isn't clear to everyone, that's their issue, not the new person's.
