Should just add a NPC to meld items for players and the NPC charges gil.

The NPC should not be able to overmeld.

That will solve the problem. Even though I dont understand the original problem considering most raiders have FC that have crafters. But this will solve the problem for those who dont.

Raids, trials and dungeons drop items that crafters need for certain crafts. Crafters can meld materia which battle classes need for certain instances. Sounds fair to me.

I do think it's a nuisance to have to go looking for someone just to meld materia or having to wait for them to finish whatever it was they were doing at the time. I just don't see much value in that system; it's always bugged me, honestly.

Crafters have furnishings, dyes, glamour prisms, high end i220 gear, glamour gear, minions, etc. What did low end crafters do before this patch, sit and complain about the lack of ways to make gil? Every time a convenience feature is suggested, it's always "But crafters will lose this and that", first glamour prisms and now materia.
Umm.... welcome to an MMORPG??? Grinding is a bit of a given... lol.

We all have to suck it up and do things we don't want to. That's how it works in the real world to. Just because this is a video game doesn't mean that philosophy has to be abolished. If you want something, you have to earn it. Suck it up and craft like the rest of us did. Was it fun? Hells no; but we did it. Just because you and a few other people refuse to utilize a feature in the game is not excusable enough to do away with it. That's unfair to the rest of us that sucked it up and did do it. Special snowflake attitude much? Guess your too good to grind in a video game that was designed with grinding in mind. And boohoo if they expect a tip for their time? They didn't have to help you at all. Guess waiters and pizza delivery drivers don't deserve tips either for their time. I mean after all, you could just do it yourself and pick up your own pizza.

And honestly, most crafters do melds for free because it's hardly a burden to them anyway; so yes, I do fail to see why this whole "inconvenience" thing is even an issue, because it really isn't. It's just gamers looking for more ways to be lazy because, "It's just a game".

I think we should remove the restriction for everything. have two items? mash em together with your bare roe hands and bam, crafted gear. no more level restrictions, geirskogul at level one. no more class restrictions, fire4 as a monk. no more reality restrictions, Yoshi p materializes from your monitors and socks us right in the face for every patch.

I don't mind either as an endgame crafter myself, what bothers me is all of these people that try to make us crafters come across as spoiled brats or something, because god forbid they don't want to put in the same amount of time crafting we did. It's like crafting is a beneath them or something.

If they wanted to do this fairly they can leave the whole advanced melding on crafted gear for crafters only. You still need to level and work hard to get this specialist gear and sell it giving crafters a source of revenue that they already have being able to craft new glamours and more. Giving people the ability to meld to regular tome gear wouldn't be a massive inconvenience to anyone it just saves some messing around with unnecessary game mechanics when so many other games don't force crafting on you just to enchant gear which is really what melding is.

I'm ok with melding being a crafter thing. However, I don't like the way they made the level restriction on melding.
Currently, you have to level a crafter job according to the level of the item you want to put a materia on. Would it be a materia I or V.

I think that it should be the other way around where the level of the materia determines the required level of your crafter.

    Lv1-20: Materia I
    Lv21-30: Materia II
    Lv31-40: Materia III
    Lv41-50: Materia IV
    Lv51-60: Materia V

Want BiS materia melds? Get your crafters to 60 so you can put some materia V on it. Ok with having lower tier materia? Just get a few levels on your DoH.
I don't think a DoW who wants to put some materia on his gear (hello 3.2 changes) should have to get his DoH at 60 to even put shitty materias on it. It feels wrong to have it this way.
It would also ease the spiritbonding process since you only need Lv I materias.

Said NPC should charge extra money for services so that players would be encouraged to ask crafters.
