While I find the outfits neat, I'm fine with not having them.

On the topic of all things dead and undead in WoW, I've seen screen shots of their version of the Forsaken models. I like the aesthetics of the Chinese models over what everyone outside of China has. But that's just personal opinion.

It was a smart deal: To allow the game published in china, they had to agree for exclusive content
Well... smart for whom? Its a win-win-lose situation where the global players are the losers

No, in order to publish the game in China, they had to agree to strictly censor and even remove content in order to comply with China's censorship laws. The exclusive items (I think there's these two outfits, a panda minion and a Behemoth mount with a Chinese New Year-themed barding?) are compensation for the Chinese players getting less content overall.

As much as I like those outfits, it's a neutral situation for us and a net loss for them, since they're getting less and at a much slower pace and being asked to put up with it in return for reskinned or slightly edited versions of things the other players already have (I don't know about you, but that dress looks an awful lot like the Thavnarian top to me).

It would be nice to see something similar in the future, but can live without it if it means I can play the entire game, even if I don't always agree with the localization team's decisions.

Your comment seems worded in a way that makes it sound like players in China are owed something because their government places restrictions on what FFXIV can display to them. That's not SE's fault.. that's their government, and so I don't really understand why anyone would feel like SE needs to make it up them somehow. They can offer the same outfits to all their players world-wide. If someone chooses to live in a country that prevents them from getting something in a video game because of government laws, then that's the (very insignificant) cost of living in that country.

Why should the rest of us receive less because China puts censorship restrictions on its populace? I don't live in China. As a gamer I can sympathize and say it sucks for them, but I'm still paying my monthly subscription fee and would like access to the game's content.

It's how localization works. Just deal with it.

they are owed something, because they're getting a product which is objectively inferior to the product the rest of the world is getting, and therefore SE gives them exclusive (albeit very superficial) goodies in order to make that product more enticing for them, as well as to make up for the cut content. It's good business; if you want to sell a dented dryer, you have to offer the customer a discount and throw in the hoses and cords for free, because the customer needs an incentive to purchase an imperfect product. But if the next customer in line demands the same deal on a brand-new dryer, you'd laugh in their faces.

Again, I'm not saying I wouldn't like the outfits (Though looking at them closely, they look kind of poorly textured and as if they're resuing assets from the Thavnarian stuff), and it's perfectly possible that we will get something similar (But hopefully better made) in the future, but this is a little like demanding that the pre-order exclusive items be made available to everyone for free.

And they can thank their government for that. That's their government's fault.. it's not SE choosing to do so. Without SE's compliance to their government's demands they would have no FFXIV at all.

I'm not sure what that has to do with SE spending development time on exclusive content just for them - my government doesn't prevent me from receiving those outfits. Instead, that's SE choosing to favor one batch of consumers over the other with a particular set of items.

I am. Telling the developers that you're not fond with how something is working is one of many ways of dealing with it.

You can choose to do nothing and just accept whatever is handed to you if that's how you prefer to deal with it. As I don't pay for your subscription, I'm not going to insist you do otherwise; hopefully you can do the same.

They can, if they play on the Chinese game that isn't run by Square Enix.
