Me, personally. I do not want to breed a chocobo but I will be more than happy to buy an egg from you. If I change my mind, I will lvl DoH/L so that I could breed my own.
Next question?
Papa was a rolling stone...wherever he laid his barbut was home.
Yes, I know. But if I don't speak out right now, I might never get my breeding chocobo. The Dev team are too toward battle class right now.
I don't work for them. They did say they are looking into chocobo breeding though.
In the end it could simply be that they want personal chocobos to be something only available to players ranking a battle class at least to 25. Behind all the lore that could be a primary reason. It certainly wouldn't be a bad one either.
The more areas of the game you participate in, the more content you gain access to. When it comes to battle classes, the idea may simply just be "all players are expected to rank battle classes." Given that non-battle classes are considered support classes that are secondary to battle classes, it is a valid idea.
SE is not excluding you from their personal GC issue chocobos. You are excluding yourself from them by not ranking up a battle class.

If i can buy my own chocobo, I'm am fine with it, i got gils. However, I can not. It is the content for battle class only.
I love how you all keep comparing this to the Materia system. As if slotting Materia is going to be in any way fun. Having the ability to make things you made better is not content. You keep saying DoL and DoH are secondary support classes. Well we don't want to be. We want content. We want something to do. Grinding all day is not fun. The Crafting system would be amazing if we actually had some quests or other ways to use our skills. We do not want to be left out of things like Chocobos simply because we would rather focus on our crafting than our fighting.
Yes, I have a level 50 LNC, but I also have a lvl 45 BTN a lvl 40 ALC and every other job at 30-35. I don't want all of those classes sitting around collecting dust because all of the effort is going toward Battle Content. Thats a poor excuse for a game. I can't believe people actually have the nerve to say that DoL and DoH don't deserve things because we are not Fighting. I have never once proclaimed battle classes don't deserve things because they can't craft. I personally have been very vocal about ensuring future battle content isn't watered down to support not combat classes. But that in no way makes its ok to force our DoL/H into secondary roles.
I want a game in which every class I play has a full breadth of content ready and waiting for me as I advance in whatever Class I choose to play. For anyone to tell me that is not how this game should be is a fool looking for another clone of every other MMO ever made.
But they give us our own free will to pick up any class we want in game. And when I level up my fishing, i don't feel the need to level up my battle class. I can do my main story quest all the way to the end. Why all of the sudden just don't give me my chocobo?
So, are you saying you don't enjoy crafting content? You're saying it's not going to be fun, yet you're advocating for more content.
I have multiple rank 50 battle classes, and 1 rank 50 craft: goldsmith. Goldsmith is one of the crafting classes that won't get to participate in materia crafting as much as other crafting classes. Despite all of that, I feel like I am more excited about participating and enjoying materia crafting than you. Ironic?
We're not the ones saying DoL/H are support/secondary classes. The devs are. That is the direction this game is headed in. They will not pull a 180 and backpedal their changes. If you do not like that direction, instead of asking for them to make such a drastic change in direction, find another game. It may sound harsh, but that is the reality of it.I want a game in which every class I play has a full breadth of content ready and waiting for me as I advance in whatever Class I choose to play. For anyone to tell me that is not how this game should be is a fool looking for another clone of every other MMO ever made.
I don't know if you are aware, but the leadership behind the game changed. The initial idea that all classes are equal has been discarded.
With Tanaka's team the game was designed a certain way. Yoshi-P is changing it.

Seems to me that they are working on a few different chocobo types... but SE will have to confirm this.
1) Rental Chocobos: Anyone can use Rank 10+ (no restrictions on what class) but they have a time limit. In FFXI the time limit was pretty long... you could pretty much ride from Sandy all the way over to Windy if you didn't mess around and stop or take unnecessarily long routes that were out of the way. So I'm pretty sure its not gonna be "oh look 2 minutes, now we are gonna kick you."
2) Personal Chocobo's though the Grand Company, have to be R25 DoM/DoW to get them and be in a Grand Company. These will be able to be trained for battle and be able to fight, have armor etc.
3) They said they are going to being back Chocobo Breeding. (Now this is all theory on my part since they haven't said anything about the Chocobo's from this) I would hope that anyone can raise their own chocobo, no matter their class... there might be a rank limit to it, maybe 10+ like the rental chocobos. They might be able to be taught to fight, or maybe it would depend on that stats that you raised the chocobo with. They might be able to be used as a basic personal chocobo with no battle capabilities. Or maybe bred for speed, or maybe bred for battle etc...
We just don't have all the info, so at this time we don't know whats going to end up happening over all with Chocobos as the game continues to expand. Remember at the moment they are trying to restructure and put the basic into the game so they can get it to a stable point and bring out the PS3 version.
Also remember this is a new producer and hes changing the vision of the game that the original guy had... unfortunately it will happen and things won't always turn out the way that we thought they would.
I'm just a bun boy, doing bun boy things.
On the topic of DoH/L being secondary, I think this is intended to combat things like the unengaging main story line. When equal access degrades the content down to teh sux someone has to take the back seat. Dropping the DoL/H is the smartest thing to do here.
Chocobo riding, though, doesn't become crappy because DoL/H can access them, which is why I see a difference here worth raising a discussion over.
いつか人は一人になって思い出の中に生きていくだけ。
Oh, ic. What a waste of time, seems like that I level up my two classes for nothing. I'm glad that this game is still free, or I'll request a refund for it.
