Alphinaud is going to try and save Estinien from Nidhogg's control... I think Aymeric will still want to kill him regardless, and possibly build his peace over his dead friend even if we succeed in saving Estinien. if there was a situation that could truly cause a schism among the Scions as they are now, that would be it.

This game is not allowed to have anything happy, don't ya know? Besides, the Dragonsong War is still raging on, so I expect more troll moments from Nidhogg until he's finally put down for good.

I think the main thing that bothers me, after some thought, is how Hydaelyn called Minfilia back into Flow and spirited her away to the Astral Aetherial Sea, knowing she had nothing she could do there but sacrifice herself or listen to whatever Hydaelyn had to say. That's... extremely shady. Yet everyone looks at it as if Minfilia sacrificed herself of her own will... stuck in the Aetherial Sea, what else could she do...?

... we did not fail Minfilia. Thancred did not fail her. Even Teledji's slimy ass did not cause this. This is Hydaelyn's direct fault. She is the only one responsible, and she is the only one that should be held accountable. Would that we had the opportunity to call her out on it...

We may never get Minfilia back. In that case... well, I'm already fighting for selfish wishes, and am glad to see Alphinaud is finally starting to be more genuine in that regard. No more accepting sacrifices as necessary. We will look for a better way. Even if we have to fight and kill, and perhaps die, we will not accept killing and dying as the only solutions. If we just had the opportunity to talk... if we knew the whole truth... and made a decision...

Well, at least the Vath have not lost any of their endearing naivete and curiosity. They started their own Aventurers' Guild!

It's not like they killed off Vidofnir or Honoroit. It's hardly 'Game of Thrones' style misery. They also outright stated in advance that this expansion would be darker than the last - and honestly I find that rather refreshing when there's an abundance of lighthearted MMO's out there. It's not as if they shy away from humour either.

Minfilias future?
I worry about what is going to happen
If we can't find a way to get Minfilia back
Or if we start to question Hydaelyn too much for her liking
The thing about gods and immortal beings..
Is they have very different perceptions of good and evil
If they view them as even existing, look at dragons, or primals
It will be interesting to see what happens next

The ascians are complicated.. but after everything that they have done they are still firmly in the "you are evil and must be destroyed" category, where they shall remain until they give a reason to justify all of the /horrible/ things they have done.

I also worry for my scions x.x I really don't want to end up fighting against them but if they turn fanatic.. that will be awful.. Y'shtola is one of my favorite characters T^T

As for Aymeric.. <3 love you love, but don't get yourself killed by getting interested in the warrior of light x.x Minfilia, Ysayle, Haurchefant.. i swear even mild love interest winds up in a bad position.. or dead. Its no wonder that the warrior of light is getting ptsd over simple things like "lets get a drink" at this point..

....when do we get to romance Lucia? >.> she can handle herself..

So devs, this would be nice to see after the pony mounts got an in game cutscene. My minions need in game mention love lol.

I think Lucia is more likely to bite it compared to Aymeric. Perhaps by enduring an attack meant for Aymeric. With that said, however, 4.0 is supposedly separate from 3.0 so I could see Aymeric being written off by being given a tragic death or just being completely tied down by Ishgardian affairs.

So. We regained the Blessing and used it at the end of 3.0 (if not after, such as Sephirot).

Think of this another way:

We've been using Minfilia's lifeforce as a battery to power ourselves. Hydaelyn was already waning throughout 2.X, it was apparently Minfilia that gave her that little boost that strengthened our Blessing against Best Ascian and his sidekick.

I'm suddenly quite disturbed about this Warrior of Light thing. Maybe Hydaelyn won't ask us to sacrifice ourselves, but ask others sacrifice themselves for our power.

Is the Blessing constantly draining Hydaelyn? I figured she spent some power to give us the Crystals (given Matoya's Crystal Eye is a Crystal of Light from a bygone era...) and we just harness that power. She gave us a lump sum of power up front, and we tap into that, rather than draining her constantly. Whether regaining the Blessing required new Crystals or was just us rediscovering our old ones follow Middy blocking them is up for debate, I guess.

Come to think of it... Is Hydaelyn perhaps just a really big Crystal of Light? The Mother Crystal, I mean... The Word of the Mother did say the Crystals power is spent... So the Mother Crystal is done now? This is why I'm having a hard time viewing Hydaelyn in a bad light... She is seemingly powerless at this point... After shielding us from Ultima (such and evil thing to do!) she helped us save Thancred by giving us a Blade of Light, she saved Krile, told Minfilia to run back so she could hijack Flow, and explained some stuff to us before finally running out of power and sending us back as her final act... I mean sure, sacrificing Minfilia isn't nice, but it seems more like an act of desperation to me... How the Scions react is questionable, but I can hardly fault Hydaelyn for that, and I can hardly complain at Hydaelyn sacrificing one person, when Ascians have a body count beyond counting... The alternative was to quietly fizzle out and let Elidibus have free reign to corrupt us, at least now we can have two accounts of things...
