The real problem with this is that the dmg nerf also applies to Drk's and Pld's. War's could do with a nerf, and it was inevitable that they got one, but Pld's already had pitiful dmg output. This patch buffed them with the new potency numbers, but the dmg nerf puts them at par, if not lower, then where they were before.

Drk's are a different story. They're a little better off with dmg, given they have a higher burst, but they really could have used some party utility.
