So Specialization is alive and well if these web sites are correct.
Just as I assumed then. Thank god. <3 Specialist is the best thing to ever happen to crafting.

That's quite a lot of stats though, I'm a bit surprised if it's really that high. My fully geared weaver doesn't even have that much! (Though it might with the new specialist stat bonus...will have to see.)

Specialist is the worst thing to ever happen to crafting. They added a bunch of skills with no use. Reduced the number of recipies that we can use without creating alts. Red script raid gear was so terrible that it was virtually non existant in the market place due to cost vs effectiveness. So few people are crafting in comparison to 2.x that the two star crafting gear doesn't really sell on the market. And on our server specialist recipies just creates micro economies resulting in even larger price hikes than in 2.x.

All of those are bad things, I don't know how anyone who actually takes part in the market place can honestly think the specialist system is good for anything. The whole system is terrible.

I think this is more of a circular argument with many more issues than "specialization bad". They messed up crafting right out the gate, making nearly every single recipe nearly impossible to craft HQ without having already been at the 3* level prior (seriously, try making even ramie cloth HQ with melded patrician's gear only, and with bare minimal cross-class skills), basically killing it for new players that aren't masochists like me making ramie cloth from literally level 51-55. They upped the amount of materials needed from other classes (hello holy water) to the point where you need more alternate class crafts than your own for a recipe.

Then add weekly cash throw-away turn ins (because of the earlier part) for minimal token gains to be locked out of required materials to make gear that is worse than something people are grinding 200 times for for a relic, and most people not knowing super rotations to effectively HQ crafter specific gear that has a 3 stat point advantage NQ over the easily farmable, easily HQable, omniclass gear.

And you think specialists are what made crafting disappear?

HW crafting has been a cluster **** of epic proportions. I enjoyed getting my weaver to 50 in ARR. Ya, it's a grind, but one that didn't feel too bad because on the most part, being a botanist was mostly enough to do so. I took one look at the scripts and basically just make ARR, minions, and glamour items instead.

No I think bad development decisions are what got them here. The first of which was specialist. So they need to start gutting their problem in the simplest place. I'll be making a post in a few days of what I think they need to do. LAST time I did that we actually got some of the exact red script changes proposed, and they followed up raid armor which people want. Now its hard for me to say if that's from the US feedback or if JP players had similar complaints.

While I don't like specialist only recipes and think the specialist skills were a botched concept, the problems you described earlier had more to do with how ridiculous the materials were. Don't forget that unobtainable materials predated specialist only recipes, and there was zero market for 180 crafted battle gear long before any specialist only recipes. Last I checked, there was a much healthier market for the specialist only sky pirate gear than the 180 stuff (to be fair, I haven't played in a couple months, so things could be very different now).

I was kinda hoping they were going to not do specialist recipes and just have the stat buffs be the main attraction, which would allow people to be less hardcore on overmelding gear and still be able to make stuff on a few classes. Guess not.
