    God damnit another chest.

Why do you have drops in a chest in an instance? This game has a great incapacitation system which can be used to influence drop rates and you just completely ignore it by implementing loot through chests.

    I don't understand this decision.

Why does every complaint have to be ridiculed? Did I say I'm going to quit the game, or that "this makes FFXIV a failed game", no.

But incapacitation adds a completely different layer to the fights, one which could have been especially fun and challenging in an encounter like this. I don't think it is a frivolous complaint like "oh no ifrit made weapons glow (like Ifrit)". So I'm sorry but I am disappointed that it is another chest.

Question is, why not having it in the chests instead of INSIDE A MONSTER?

Beside the Point that i allready love the new Fight and new Drops..

I would prefer getting Drops, as in Horns, Tails etc and make weapons out of it.

Nah sorry, I meant: Why not having the drop (whichever it is) in a chest instead of inside a monster? Makes any difference and Final Fantasy is well-known about its chests.

Yeah, but you incapacitate the monster and the drop is in the chest. Who knows! Maybe when you incapacitate him you'll drop a piece of something during battle, all is possible!

Because it has been shown that incapacitation have no affect on drops from a chest, the loot simply works differently when it is from a chest. It appears to be the way it is designed. Chests are spawn by triggers, such as X mob died, and then have their own loot table.

You don't incapacitate the chest so it doesn't help your drop chances, and Deepvoid/Batraal at least have no loot table of their own so there is really no point in incapacitating either which is a real shame. Once groups figure out how to kill Ifrit now all they can do is continue to farm him the exact same way until everyone has the drops.

If incapacitation had been included then groups could push themselves to incapacitate different areas for a better shot at certain loot. I guess I'm silly for wanting more goals in a fight than just get HP to 0% as quickly as possible, but then again I've been playing MMO's for a long time I guess I expect more.

I think we got enough fun with "chests" in Darkhold to hold us over for one patch... we haven't had an encounter to use incapacitations on since the December NMs.

Hmmm i agree on the incapacitations, that will make it more difficult to achieve correctly, but on the other hand, chest are fine.

If you agree that incapacitations would make it more difficult to achieve correctly then how can you say you want chests more. We have tons of chests in this game. The Blades' faction NM has the exact same chest in fact as Ifrit. There are very few opportunities this good for incapacitations.

Balancing all of his jumping around, environmental obstacles, and general movement that is required in this fight along with trying to incapacitate multiple areas before he dies would have been really fun... It's too bad they went with a chest after we just got through with an instance that was entirely about triggering different chests.

I just hope in the near future we get some encounters where we can use incapacitation again. The December NM's were not that great, but I personally think they would still have been a lot worse after 20 or so kills without incapacitations to go for.

Except incapacitations brings no added difficulty at all. It's a pointless mechanic that will hopefully be phased out.
