still unfair for some jobs , why DRG , NIN , MNK need to be unique sets
i wouldnt mind
drg-mnk - ifrit set
brd-mch - garuda set
tanks - titan
healers- shiva
caster - ramuh
Nin could be garuda or ifrit , both make sense
however putting 4 JOBS on IFRIT and 6 on Shiva...... DRG being the only 1 with garuda , really?
No Titan set for tanks means i've lost all interest in this stuff.
After reading my copy of the Heavensward artbook, it seems that the dev team divides sets into the following categories:
Tank
Melee
Rogue
Ranged
Caster
Healer
The current problem seems to come from the fact that currently the Mail, Melee and Rogue gear sets are only worn by one job each. If Mail, Melee and Rogue sets get more wearers then things should be slightly less aggravating.
They seem to be trying to cycle which gear type gets the unique model for each tier instead of repeating 2.X's "Tanks always get unique models, DRG/MNK/BRD split 2 models among them, Casters and healers always share a model" pattern.
P.S. 5 jobs are getting Shiva. 2 Casters and 3 Healers.
4 sets times number of races times number of genders...
The base sets take a certain amount of time to make, then they all have to be adjusted to fit each race and gender.
Going unique per role would increase the burden of work by a lot.
Quite simple really.
And that's just one set of gear... We'll get a few more new gearsets in this patch.
I don't know how fast these things can be made while still making them actually look good... (not that looking good matters because there will always be people that bitch about their particular set looking like shit)
Well, I kind of get them not doing Titan for tanks. While it is the logical choice... they kind of already did it.
There were two "Titan" in FF3, the summon pronounced Tai-tan and the Labyrinth of the Ancients boss Ti-tan. The later was named Phlegethon in English for FFXIV (Acheron in patch 2.1) and had a matching gear set in 2.3.
In the Japanese version of FFXIV, both characters are still named Titan, with different pronunciation, and the 2.3 Crystal Tower tank gear is literally named "Titan's X".
So in the Japanese version, a tank Titan set in 3.2 would have had a similar name to existing gear, in addition to essentially being the second set of big naked yellow dude armor.
I hope we get...
3.2 Tomestones of Lore sets;
Ifrit - Monk/Tank
Garuda - Dragoon (anyone else find this to be a nice nod to FFIII?)
Leviathan - Ninja/Ranged
Shiva - Healer/Mage
3.4 Tomestones of Snore sets;
Titan - Tank/Dragoon
Ramuh - Healer/Mage
Ravana - Ninja/Monk
Bismarck - Ranged
How is the Eikonic gear named in Japanese? We're getting, for example, Hellfire blah of Fending, rather than Ifrit blah of Fending. If that's the same for Japanese, then they'd get something like Crag blah of Fending, rather than Titan's blah, in which case there shouldn't be much of a problem.

I'm honestly relieved to see the sets condensed alittle.
IF they'd raise the weekly cap to 500 or 750 I wouldn't complain as at least then we could get 1 pc a week (guaranteed).
But since we're forever punished with a 450 cap less armor is a good thing...
I can actually gear my classes and breath now.
The ESO grind was imo...so harsh because every class had unique armor therefore the grind felt and looked like it would never end.
i dont agree with only 4 sets in a way im glad since only 3 classes i have capped at 60 look like they will be sharing the same sets lol bard, machinist and ninja :P
They'll be fine, it's Hellfire/Tidal/Aerial/Hailstorm in Japanese (as in they use the English words). So the name Titan is unlikely to come up.How is the Eikonic gear named in Japanese?
