I'm just gonna pretend your new for now.
But what I did before getting a fancy MMO mouse was mostly just using both hands on the keyboard to play when I was doing boss fights like Titan EX way back when. Rarely used the mouse in case I needed to spin the camera.
Needless to say, I was probably one of the only few DRG's not to tank the floor on Titan EX with that method.
Born to lose, Live to win.

It all comes down to practicing within the confines of your abilities. Due to brain trauma I'm unable to synchronize both hands for keybinds, so I use my left hand for movement and a $16 mouse to click on my hotbar icons with my right. With practice and strategic positioning of buttons I can pull 1k+ average runs in VA at ilvl 203 without breaking a sweat on mch. So find your confines and practice, practice, practice.
What I did was use a controller instead.
People like to complain about it but I personally find it infinitely easier than a kb/m combo (probably because I'm primarily a console player; I'm PRETTY SURE if you play PC games more often then you'll like a keyboard better).

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.

switch to a controller
problem solved

haha you eventaully find ways to span your entire hand from CTRL all the way to 9 quickly if you put your mind to it! To make it easier, I will add abilities to Shift+1-5 for cross classed abilities.

I basically do the same thing. I use the 1 through 6 keys, combined with the Shift, the Alt and the Control keys. Here's what my hotbar looks like for my White Mage and Paladin:
The skills with just the numbers listed at the top left, are the regular numerical keys. The ones with an "a" in front of it are the ALT+Numerical keys. The ones with a "c" in front of it are the CONTROL+Numerical Keys and the ones with the "+" in front of it are the SHIFT+Numerical keys.
Credit goes to Niqo'te for her fabulous art in the "Nique's happy fun time!"-thread and Nix/Capa for the Caitlyn drawing to the right. \(^_^ )/
Give her your support by liking their art!

I recommend a controller. Hold r2 and all your right side buttons become attacks (4) and hold L2 to make all your left side attacks (4). Hold r1 and flick any of the directional buttons or main buttons to switch to a new hotbar out of a total of 8. Thats 64 button slots. Set them up and use your new move sets accordingly. I only need around 3 hotbars to set my skills for one class since that's like 24 skills already. Takes a while to get use to but once you get used to it it feels like riding a bike. Not that its anything to be proud of really. I prefer Wildstars battle system >_>

Whoa! My PLD actions are all over the place compared to this. I don't like putting Defensive CDs next to each other lest I were to accidentally press both CTRL+5 and CTRL+6 (Sentinel and HG used to be next to each other) so i moved HG to Shift+6I basically do the same thing.
