Also, I have a first gen PS3, so I actually played the game upscaled. But an HD release would be better.
FFIX is a great game with a lackluster main char (and villian) as well... We need more main chars like Cecil or Locke/Terra

I always liked the main characters that had some deep awesome power they didn't know about, it's always hinted at through the game but you never see it unleashed till near the end, and it makesd you go "YEAH! He/She is gonna bust stuff up!" kinda like what Terra had, or in a way, kind of like Cloud once he got his memory back and had that big speech thing, or Advent Children when Sephiroth appeared, you KNEW it was gonna be a bad-ass fight.
Little things like that get the adrenaline pumping, and with enough character building players can really connect with the main character, so when he/she goes nuts on the screen you really feel it. Zidane was just kind of.... meh.

Aww, I loved both Zidane and Kuja. XD Zidane is actually probably my favorite lead in the entire series. :x Although really, I always thought of Vivi as the main character up until Disc 3 (when Zidane's past started to be revealed).![]()
The only good thing about Zidane was he was a thief and almost a miqo'te, other than that he was just predictable and boring. Vivi was awesome though.
And call me weird but I thought eiko was an awesome character. She gave Zidane so much lip it was hilarious XD
Shut your mouth.
Zidane was a breath of fresh air when it comes to a main character.
I mean, geez:
Cecil: emo
Cloud: emo
Squall: emo
Tidus: E-M-O
Zidane was confident, good-natured, heroic, and genuinely good. He was the quintessential hero, and he didn't need a goofy hairstyle, giant muscles, or impossibly bulky weapons to do it.
He was also clumsy, terrible at wording things correctly, ditzy and gullibleShut your mouth.

When it comes to RPG heroes though, for me it'll be Justin from Grandia every single time.
