Au Ra are pretty nice, but it's all a matter of taste. Make sure you don't get a bad (for you) sounding voice. Since battle animations are the same across the board, the emotes and voice may be your biggest concern.

Animation on emotes are alright depending on what you like. The guys are a bit rough around the edges, and the girls are dainty and elegant.

You should be a Raen! We need more good-looking Raen guys. Too many edgelords traipsing about. x3

^^^^ This, so much. Glossing over the fact that I am a Xaela, but Raen guys are a rare gem of hawtness.

Though in seriousness, even though it isn't your ideal thing, making an alt to test would be best.

Make some alts and try them out, it's no longer a pain since you can now skip the opening cutscene.

My current main is a male Roegadyn
I am a little put off by the sheer size of it (most other races come up to chest height at most)
thinking about changing to a [male] AuRa.

So you go from tallest race to "race that is about 2 cm smaller"? xD
Chest height is nice, I reach about crotch area on male Au Ras...

As a Roelover, I have to say I think your Mroe is really cute and that I personally think you should stick to him(he's basically a palette swap of my partner's though so I'm biased. As a max height Femroe (so only a tiny bit smaller than you) I only really notice how freakishly tall Roes are when I'm on my alts. I can't comment overall on male AuRa animations, but I have to say I really dislike the run animation. Out of the two clans, I see far more Xaela, the two in my FC are of that clan also. I'd go with Raen if you swap, I think they look nicer. I'll also refer my MAuRa friends to this thread.

I wholeheartedly agree with the previous poster that mentioned checking the battle voices, as well as those for emotes. I went with what I thought I liked in the character creator and had to fantasia to change my Femroes voice as I found some sounds she made were horrible.

EDIT: And yeah lol, I'm basically between the height of a max height Mroe and max height MAuRa, so wanting to go Au Ra for a significant size reduction is a bit of a peculiar choice. Highlander Hyur male might be more suitable?

I did not realize just how close the au ra were in relation to size. I really like my roe, I may just have to get used to the size lol. I do appreciate all the helpful replies.

Honestly, it seems to me like you LIKE your male Roe but because they are so different in build from most other races, coupled with the fact that there's fewer of them, you're having second-thoughts about your choice.

I think you should stick with him. Male roes always stand out to me and everyone I've met and gotten to know has a great personality - outgoing, fun-loving, world-burning type people seem to be attracted to them. One of my best friends is a Roe named Slab Hardbody - he's a RIOT.

If you absolutely must change, I would not go Au Ra. They are vastly disproportionate in the population and because of the horns being tied to the face they all look the same. They have a reputation for being dark edgelords and are a dime a dozen really. I can't see someone who would create a Roe being happy in such a homogenized race. Further, as a different poster said, they are more slight but they are about as tall as a Roe, just a hair smaller really.

I could recommend either Midlander (Highlanders also being quite large) or either Elezen for you. They all run weird, though, be prepared for that.

Or you would look great as a Female Lalafell.

Male Roe has the best /psych emote in the game. Plus they hold their Axes and Lances like gangsters tryin bring down a mountain. My next character will be Male Roe for sure.

is it strictly height or also the overall bara bulk.

a male au ra wouldnt solve the height much but would tone down the bulk, but the running animation is suffering, also what Kaitlan said on them.

highlander is a decent option if you like being noticably taller and bulkier but not to roe levels; however highlanders suffer from poor face options and lack of eyebrows.

Elezen is like a scaleless au ra without a run as bad.
