Tome/crafted gear won't have all of the slots like crafted gear, just 1 or two of the guarenteed ones.

According to this post here, forbidden melding will apparently be unavailable for gear that isn't crafted. Thinking positively, I guess we could enjoy 18 slots at best (2 per weapon and armour slot, 1 for belts and each accessory).
On the other hand, if you have several Gil capped retainers... I guess you could start Midas with fully crafted and melded gear?

I honestly hope Midas healing requirements are on the level where healers that meld other then healing based stats will suffer. Healers should not be having to meld accuracy.According to this post here, forbidden melding will apparently be unavailable for gear that isn't crafted. I thought forbidden melds were unavailable only for main stats, whilst secondary stats follwed usual over meld rules. But i could be remembering it wrong.According to this post here, forbidden melding will apparently be unavailable for gear that isn't crafted. The reddit post is fairly old and i thought they clarified things recently.
EDIT: meh, poking around the internet only gets ambiguous sources on materia in 3.2 like this one http://kweh.jp/ffxiv-patch-3-2-the-gears-of-change/
Main stats only work in the non-forbidden slots is the only concrete info there seems to be. Kind of suggests that forbidden melds can be doen on the non-main stats though.

The main stats only in the guarenteed melds will be valid for crafted accessories, which will still have the same 5 slots as today. On tome and raid gear, only the 1 or 2 slots will exist.

I'm just as confused as anyone in the end, really. I just felt it was the most concise post on the matter. Squeenix is likely holding back on exact specifications until 3.2 to prevent a Materia purchase hysteria before then. Not that it's stopping people, when they first announced meldable gear with few specifics a while ago, people immediately began buying up all the Tier IVs and Vs on Phoenix, anyway.
Going to take 2-3 weeks for the first Lore pieces to pop up anyway (unless someone's very naughty), hoho.

we were NEVER able to hit 100% in harder content. the accuracy on healer gear was only implementet for solo-content. they adjustet the accuracy caps with 3.0. but without increasing character lvl they needed to implement the accuracy on the gear in 2.2. the healer gear from 2.0 and 2.1 didn't had accuracy.I know we won't get accuracy on our gear, seeing as you guys took it off at the expansion, and I know you won't adjust accuracy caps as it'll also effect the other jobs [...]
I understand that the role of a healer is to heal, but as we're getting into harder content, our accuracy is not increasing. It'll get to the point where we're so far under the accuracy cap that we have no choice but to heal 100% of the time.
but however, if they don't give us something to heal they should at least buff our accuracy o.o/ the 3.2 dungeons are for ilvl 180! plus the tanks will go full vit. i don't think we have to heal that much xD
I find it confusing that Disciple of Magics need accuracy in the first place. One miss on a BLM is already a ruined rotation.

I mean, accuracy is a terrible stat in general in this game and only exists so that there's an illusion of choice going on. That being said, it's ridiculous that we can't hit reliably as healers in harder content. Wasting globals isn't fun at all and frankly frustrating when you're trying to optimize whatever there is to optimize, nor is downgrading your gear to make your hit rate better.
Hopefully we'll either get bonus accuracy on gear (because melds aren't going to cut it) or they'll add a native accuracy bonus to Cleric Stance, just like they did with tank stances. I'm not holding my breath though.
