Assuming it doesn't show up on 3.2 gear naturally, healers will be able to meld accuracy onto tome and raid gear. That being said, 15 slots at 12 accuracy per, I am not sure if 180 would be enough

I am also waiting for relic stats to be customisable. Heavy Accuracy + crit and melding onto new tomestone/raid gear should make it easy to get to accuracy cap as a healer.
But with the potential of being able to meld 55 materia onto tomestone/raid gear, 3.2 should be the patch where healers can get to accuracy cap for raids.

According to this post here, forbidden melding will apparently be unavailable for gear that isn't crafted. Thinking positively, I guess we could enjoy 18 slots at best (2 per weapon and armour slot, 1 for belts and each accessory).
On the other hand, if you have several Gil capped retainers... I guess you could start Midas with fully crafted and melded gear?

I honestly hope Midas healing requirements are on the level where healers that meld other then healing based stats will suffer. Healers should not be having to meld accuracy.According to this post here, forbidden melding will apparently be unavailable for gear that isn't crafted. I thought forbidden melds were unavailable only for main stats, whilst secondary stats follwed usual over meld rules. But i could be remembering it wrong.According to this post here, forbidden melding will apparently be unavailable for gear that isn't crafted. The reddit post is fairly old and i thought they clarified things recently.
EDIT: meh, poking around the internet only gets ambiguous sources on materia in 3.2 like this one http://kweh.jp/ffxiv-patch-3-2-the-gears-of-change/
Main stats only work in the non-forbidden slots is the only concrete info there seems to be. Kind of suggests that forbidden melds can be doen on the non-main stats though.

I'm just as confused as anyone in the end, really. I just felt it was the most concise post on the matter. Squeenix is likely holding back on exact specifications until 3.2 to prevent a Materia purchase hysteria before then. Not that it's stopping people, when they first announced meldable gear with few specifics a while ago, people immediately began buying up all the Tier IVs and Vs on Phoenix, anyway.
Going to take 2-3 weeks for the first Lore pieces to pop up anyway (unless someone's very naughty), hoho.

Upon doing a search, I agree there is no information that Tome/Raid gear is confirmed to have advanced Materia melding. However, that source listed also does not deny that Tome/Raid is going to have advanced Materia melding either.According to this post here, forbidden melding will apparently be unavailable for gear that isn't crafted. Another quick search on Reddit / Google doesn't confirm or deny either, so I'm still hopeful for overmelding on Tome/Raid gear.
So far, as far as I can see the only thing that's been confirmed is: "Primary stat materia can only go in normal materia slots (not forbidden slots)".
If anyone can point to another source that clearly says "There will be no forbidden melds on Raid / Tome (non-crafted) gear", I would appreciate that![]()

At the very bottom of this post is this little paragraph.
(I'm assuming advanced melding=forbidden melding, considering the rest of the section.)I’m sure there are many of you concerned about what will happen to the prices of materia, but from Patch 3.2 onwards, we will be adding materia slots to raid rewards and equipment that can be purchased with Allagan tomestones. While it won’t be possible to advance materia meld them, you will be able to increase the stats with the materia that you like.
I've also skimmed through the digests of the more recent Live Letters, but they barely have anything to say about materia, besides increasing the availability of higher rank ones.
Also, being excited for forbidden melding? That's a first for me.![]()

Hmmm, definitely must've misread that. When I read the whole block of information together, I just kinda clicked that they were saying "You wouldn't be able to advance materia meld them" with them = primary stat Materia. lol.At the very bottom of this post is this little paragraph.

I can see where that's coming from now. Thanks for correcting the logic in my brain. lol.
Me excited about forbidden melds (yes, forbidden = advance, I think it was used as a term somewhere somehow at one point, lol)? Hmmm, maybe not excited, but I liked the prospect of being to slot lots of ACC / Crit into my gear and less about the cost. I guess that opportunity is a bit more ruined now though, lol. Ah well~

Fun fact, that amount of accuracy, plus the 354 base, comes to 544, which is 4 more than the caster cap for A4S. That may mean you can't reach cap for A5-8, but you'll have a very high percentage.
